Full Series Yoda on Rebels

Did they really need to get Frank Oz back? He's the original and all, but I thought that Tom Kane did a really good job as Yoda.

 

But why not?

 

I don't know, I just liked Tom Kane.

 

I also really like Tom Kane. But as good as he is, at the end of the day, while still legitimately acting and giving a wonderful performance, Tom Kane is trying to capture the spirit of Frank Oz's Yoda.

 

It is not surprising that Bridger is a "new hope" candidate as this was my impression since the beginning and they've made a few allusions towards this. I guess Yoda will be the one to give Ezra his lightsaber/or lightsaber crystal. Filoni seems more scarred of creating complete sacrilege to the OT more than anything else, plus he seems a bit to eccentric like a nerd visiting his idols. The reason he gave is lame, as they gave Yoda his own little Jedi star fighter in the Yoda arc where he traveled all over the Outer Rim on his quest with R2( a droid Yoda didnt appear to recognize in the OT). Yoda was last seen onboard the Tantive IV, so we do know how long he's actually been on Dagobah.

 

For those who may not have read or just skimmed the article:

• We have seen Luke communicating with Leia telepathically through the Force, as well as Vader with Luke (ESB).
• I can see Yoda reaching out, seeking to make a connection to ... anyone.
• Rebels has established that Kanan had been personally instructed by Yoda at some point (likely as a youngling)

I LOVE that it says there will be connections to ' the final episodes of The Clone Wars', and to discover what degree Yoda will be seeking to 'pass on what [he has] learned'.

 

Maybe Yoda starts teaching Kanan and Ezra they finally become Jedi Masters.

 

Not just that but Yoda should have aged a bit and his voice should show it by transitioning into Frank Oz. Hope it's better than Vader.

 

How old is Frank.

I'm ashamed to admit it. But I thought Frank Oz was dead.

 

I hope if Yoda was to ever appear on screen in Rebels they don't intentionally animate him to look and move like the puppet he was in Empire

I'm not at all surprised by this and I expect to see more of the same as the show moves along. I think we all need to remember that this show isn't really for "us". I myself love it as do my kids, but the show is actually for the kids. It is a vehicle being used by Disney to indoctrinate a new generation in the GFFA so it is only natural that Filoni and Co. would feature OT characters with the goal of having them watch EPs IV-VI in preparation for the release of EPs VII-IX. I know we'd all like to think everyone has watched SW and loves it like we do but that's not the case and some kids out there have never been introduced to it before now, so a little introduction to the saga's iconic characters is definitely in order. The more the merrier I always say!

 

I agree the only thing I am not liking is this that there using OT Actors for the voices when there are voice caters who have portrayed the role more times. there just using it to feel more Ot like.

 

I think the main reason they got Oz back for this is because it's only one episode. This isn't like TCW where Yoda appears quite a bit, and would be strange to have his voice change slightly from Tom Kane to Frank Oz. With Rebels, the chances of Yoda appearing again later are pretty slim, so they can get Oz, the original actor, to voice him.

 

yea, salary would also be an issue. However, no Ewan for the brief Obi Wan cameo.

 

They really need a face palm smiley I cloud use one right now.

 

I'm glad they are keeping it to just Yoda's voice, especially Frank Oz's. If we saw Yoda in physical form outside of Dagobah, that would annoy me since he's suppose to be in hiding.
