You Believe It's This...Boy?

Why does Mace seem so stunned that the Chosen One is a boy?

What did he expect, the Chosen One to be a chair?

 

Is this a joke?

 

Mace Windu is as uncertain about the destiny and indentity of the Chosen One as anybody else is. Why would the Chosen One be a small slave boy taken from the Outer Rim, brought back too old to begin the training? Wouldn't their be more fanfare about it? Does the Chosen One even exist? The Jedi have spent thousands of years without the appearance of something so prophetic - why should they be so hurried to embrace something so variable and sudden? It's not their way. Plenty of people would feel the same in Mace Windu's shoes. Having the Sith and the Chosen One appear at the same time is alot to take in and something that will take time to reflect on before they know how to handle it.

Mace Windu's skepticism is less directed at Anakin and more at the mythology of the Chosen One in general.

 

Mace could also have been a Jedi that placed less faith in the prophecies and more in what he had seen directly infront of him. He also didn't believe the Sith could have returned without the Jedi knowing.

Mace never said anything about wanting the Chosen One to be anything other than a boy, he was just kind of doubting Anakin was the Chosen One at the moment.

 

I am pretty sure he said...


"You think it's this boy..?"


He never question it being a person he was unsure of Qui-Gon's person that he found, he was just making sure Qui-Gon felt he was reall the one.

 

"Centered around...a person?"

Hmm...MORE WEIGHT, MY ARGUMENT NOW HAS.

 

That was about the vergence, not the Chosen One.
