Lips and ***holes. I love NYC hotdog stands, though (haven't been to one in many, many years). That onion gravy stuff is amazing.
Love the hot dogs at this little place in my home town Seriously. Quarter pound "super dog" with homemade chili, mustard and onions. Unfortunately its web site doesn't show much so it's a "you'd have to be there" description. But yes, I like hot dogs. Kind of like soda in that I wish I didn't like it because they have no redeeming nutritional value whatsoever, but hey...
what is the difference between a Fenway frank and Yankee hot dog? You can't get a Fenway frank in October.

A perfectly made hot dog is so, so very good. My favorite, naturally, are Dodger Dogs (perhaps one of the best know dogs in all of baseball). They debuted a new version of it this season (one of the few things that went well), called the Doyer Dog: [image=http://blogs.laweekly.com/squidink/DoyerDog520x.jpg] Basically the stuff you'd find in a nacho platter on a hot dog. Pink's in Hollywood has great chili dogs & themed dogs as well. Got myself a Philly cheese steak hot dog the last time I was there............it was so, so good. Viva Los Angeles!
Or anyONE. Perhaps Jimmy Hoffa WAS at Giants Stadium for a brief period.... [image=http://cbsnewyork.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/giants-fans-eating-hot-dogs.jpg] That guy with the shades knows something!
I don't get why people think Dodger dogs are so great...they're just average, normal hot dogs. I really want to try Pinks though.

Edit: Last time I was in L.A. the line outside Pink's on LaBrea stretched all the way down the block. We were told there was about an hour's wait so we skipped it. I was kinda bummed about that.
Well, I am unabashed Dodger supporter after all. There is a distinct taste to those dogs, though. Especially when compared to those dogs at other parks. Hey, why don't we go to Pink's on Tuesday? Could be interesting. And Mort, too bad you couldn't make it there. Each time I was there, it was early-to mid evening, and the wait wasn't much longer than 20 minutes. Viva Los Angeles!
I will bear that in mind for my next trip. I did make it to Skooby's on Hollywood Boulevard, but that's not quite the same. My current hot dog-related goal is to visit Hot Doug's in Chicago for a Foie Gras Dog and duck fat fries.
I Liek Hot Dogs.. as well. My Hot Dog related fantasy is to start my own Sonic-like franchise. Names I've been considering include... -Frankly My Dear -The Dog & Bun Show -A Kick in the Knackwurst -The Haughty Kabana -Saveloy Dreams -The Bratwurst 1000 -Sausage Fest
BBQ'ed at home = yes, just not the ultra cheap ones Fast food or from a stand (read: "cart") that have been simmering in hot dog water = no
