We should be able to like "likes."

I was browsing through the awesome ****er thread when I came across a post liked by someone who I liked liking that post. I want to like his like!

Likes shouldn't exist in the first place. The whole system is corrupt and wrong.

More appropriate to the JCC would be an 'lol' button, to save the chore of actually posting the letters themselves. If a post makes you laugh, you click 'lol'.

 

I thought that function was perfectly covered by the Like button.

That's because nobody can top classics like

 

It degrades the quality of discourse on this website. Nuance is strangled beneath a function which itself becomes ambiguous through overly broad usage. Whole modes of thought are lost as people funnel into a few, narrowly conformed alternatives. Let alone the loss of historical idiom we've seen in the wake of it's adoption. This is a throughly shallow, arbitrary, and destructive system. It should be ended.

I have only ever liked one post, to my knowledge. It was a post by Violent Violet Violate Violin Mace Windu. We were fairly early in our transition, and I hadn't solidified my opinion on the new features as of yet. Even then, however, I was deeply wary of the whole thing, and regret the move. I wish I could take it back, but lacking that option it is a fitting testament to remind me that I should never again transgress my own moral dictates.

 

I think we should be able to ride hoverboards.
