yeah , I think I imagined that you could get all the channels listed in the mag . Also I was unaware of just how many ad breaks you had .

We had to watch the ad breaks. My dad was in advertising in NYC. We got the major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) from NYC and most of the other ones (WPIX, WOR, WNEW, to name a few). NY Mets were on WOR and New York Yankees were on WPIX. (Baseball teams). My dad liked the Yankees as did I so that won the TV fight on baseball nights. We did have more than one set though.

I was happy with broadcast tv and PBS... (especially since Ch 11 and Ch 9 would play all these great movies in the late 70s / early 80s).

When I first encountered a VCR, I asked the owner if you had to be quiet when recording TV. OTOH, a few years ago I had to explain to someone about how albums had sides.

I use to think that about recording songs from the radio. Before I learned otherwise, I stopped recording many songs because I thought they were ruined by talking or noise.
    I liked "The Barbie Diaries."

My only experience of recording at the time was by putting a tape recorder up to the speaker on a radio or TV. So it really was true for me at the time.

I did that too, recording in front of the TV to record MTV, before I started listening to the radio stations.

It's Friday and I'm home and playing my customized early '80s videos YouTube playlist. Right now "Don't You Want Me" by Human League and "Suddenly, Last Summer" by The Motels. I didn't get use to these songs being 25 years old so I have to remember they are about 35+ years old. You know you feel old when you remember it being 1989 and MTV was having decade-end retrospectives and playing what were then old videos from six or seven years before, seeing many of those videos for the first time since the early '80s... and now it is almost thirty years since that.
I'm also reminded of the movie "The Big Chill." The movie was all about some baby boomer nostalgia and its soundtrack. That was 1983 and they were only looking back at a time and music that was mostly from less than fifteen years before then.

The sound of a dial up modem disconnecting makes you cringe on reflex because you heard it so many times from having a ****** connection.

That 80's music is now as old or older as the classics were when you were a child.

When running around in the streets without parental supervision was called "being a kid" instead of "child neglect."

I read a statistic floating around and decided to actually do some light research to see if it was true. It was/is. Ahem....

Tom Cruise is 5 years older in Mission Impossible: Fallout than Wilford Brimley was in Cocoon.
