Discussion You Know You're a Fan Fiction Writer When...

I've always enjoyed vocabulary and word games in general. I'm glad you had so much fun with it.

 

...when watching the things causes you to look up spell theory... for a fic that isn't Harry Potter. (I admit it. I want to write a fix-it! How I fix it, in a way it isn't being fixed by other people... no idea. But it would be amusing...)

 

...when you re-write one chapter up to five times because you're never satisfied with it.
...when your writing cuts into your reading 'official' Star Wars books...and in most cases, you like Fan Fiction better!

 

DITTO particularly on the second one!

 

...when supportable ideas are not coming fast enough.

 

…when you want to do the “next generation” version of a story you still have to finish.

YKYAFFWW when you discover the 'read aloud' option while previewing a post and never want to write fic again in this life or the next, much less post it.

 

My family has a game we call "The Dictionary Game". Basically we take turns choosing a word from the dictionary, and we all write down what we think it means. Then we read all the definitions and everybody has to guess which one is the real one. Tons of fun. Works best with 5-10 people. But we haven't played it in a long time, because we haven't been able to round up enough people that want to play.

 

Do you mean you read it aloud, or your computer, or this site does it?

Oh, the adventures that I could craft, if I could do that!

 

This site does it. I got curious about 'options' when previewing a post and 'read aloud' was an option. A quite nice computer voice read aloud (I mean I've heard worse simulators) but by the end of Deathless Sentence the Third I was gagging. Never again.

It never occurred to me that upgrading the site meant that 'Options' could have done something apart from the old roll dice option.

Don't do this to me.Curious as I am I found out how to switch on read aloud on my mac and I 'read' your post with it. Well, my machine is set up with Norwegian language, and I promise Norwegian does not have same rules of pronounciation as English... It was horrible!
