    You combine Robocop's famous "I'll buy THAT for a dollar" line with a bit of Shaw Brothers beefcake imagery and that goes over the head of your SB loving friend. Oh well. Sometimes I am too meta for my own good.

    When you do a double take nearly every time you see the word "yoga" because your brain reads it "Yoda" the first time.

    When you wonder what would happen if various characters from different franchises met. (Example: Malcolm Reynolds and Han Solo)

    Also, if you know who Malcolm Reynolds is without thinking about it for more than two seconds.

    You need to memorize the antiderivatives of the six trig functions for a Calculus exam the next day, so you develop the following mnemonic: "A.S. (Associate of Science) gets a B (letter grade), D.D.S.+ (Doctor of Dental Surgery) gets E.C.+ (extra credit) (since d.d.s. with the e.c. is better, both d.d.s. and e.c. get plusses)". You only memorize the stuff not in parentheses. Here is how it works:

    Convert the phrase "A.S. gets a B, D.D.S.+ gets E.C.+" to this:
    AS
    B
    DDS+
    EC+

    Then, replace letters A-E with the number of their position in the alphabet.
    1S
    2
    44S+
    53+

    Next, for the numbers with plusses, add the number plus 2 below it.
    1S
    2
    44S
    (44+2)46S
    53
    (53+2)55

    Then, add an "=" after the end of each number and convert the "Ss" to "-".
    1 = -
    2 =
    44 = -
    46 = -
    53 =
    55 =

    The next part needs a picture to explain:
    [IMG]
    Result:
    1 = - 2
    2 = 1
    44 = -6
    46 = -4
    53 = 5
    55 = 3

    Next, write the trig functions in order.
    sin
    cos
    tan
    csc
    sec
    cot

    Replace the numbers in the above thing with the trig function at that position.
    sinx = - cosx
    cosx = sinx
    cscxcscx = -cotx
    cscxcotx = -cscx
    secxtanx = secx
    secxsecx = tanx

    BAM!!!
    So simple.

    p.s. So yeah, you know you're a nerd when you come up with that to memorize something and get so excited about it that you find a thread you can put it in and then write out a detailed explanation of how it works for a bunch of people who don't care. :p

    SWpants Lol, thanks! You are right, btw, it would have been easier to memorize. I was trying to come up with a simple mnemonic, and I got a little carried away. :D

    Sarge I have to take Pre-Cal 1 and 2, Cal 1 and 2, and Linear Algebra for the computer science degree I am going for. I just finished Cal 1 this week, and I will be taking Cal 2 and Linear Algebra this fall.

    p.s. I took that Calculus exam today and got a 100%. Woot woot!
