...you were looking up some Cyclops info and see his optic blasts rated by Iron Man at 2 gigawatts. One watt = one Joule per second. This is juuust about half a ton of TNT.

It occurred to me too that if you are standing next to a half ton of TNT when it goes off you are not getting the entire amount of energy as it goes out in all directions. Cyclops' optic blast is a beam hitting you with all of it, and then more each second. The blast yield of MOAB is 11 tons of TNT or 46 gigajoules. So after 22 seconds Cyclops has hit you with a MOAB.
