I'd have two sets - hero and villain:

    Hero Set
    TPM: Qui-Gon Jinn
    ATOC: Mace Windu
    ROTS: Anakin Skywalker
    ANH: Obi-Wan Kenobi
    ESB: Yoda
    ROTJ: Luke Skywalker

    Villain Set:
    TPM: Darth Maul
    ATOC: Count Dooku
    ROTS: General Grievous
    ANH: Darth Vader
    ESB: Boba Fett
    ROTJ: Palpatine

Actually, I want Dooku to be for ROTS, and Jango for ATOC.

I only disagree with Yoda in Ep II. It should be Jango Fett or a generic clone trooper.

I'd like to see them feature pairs.

    TPM: Qui-Gon and Maul
    AotC: Yoda and Dooku
    RotS: Anakin and Obi-Wan
    ANH: Vader and Obi-Wan
    ESB: Luke and Vader
    RotJ: Palpatine and Luke

That cover style is fine, but I prefer something like this:

I think Greivous and Palpatine are excellent pictures and even though I already own them I'm slightly tempted to at least buy those two. I like that there's no "big 3" - we've seen them on all the other SW media for 30 years... I also don't really like most of the covers. I think the idea is good to have a minimalistic one-character image instead of the usual "busy" artwork you see, it's like the series is taking itself a bit more seriously. However, I'm tired of seeing Maul, Yoda, Vader and stormtroopers. I mean, the recent DVD/blu-ray trilogy sets feature Yoda for PT and Vader for OT... in almost exactly the same poses as you see on these steelbooks.

And as for Maul, while he's a great and memorable character... he's also really heavily advertised already. Which I guess makes sense since ep1 get so much hate and a lot of people say he's "the only good thing about the movie". But c'mon, it's exactly the same as the 3D poster:

As for my suggestions, I've spent a few days thinking about this (actually joined this forum specifically to make this comment) so here's what I think:

    I. Watto, without a doubt. Watto is the symbol of Anakin's history as a slave, and how he wins his freedom. I love Watto a lot and unlike Maul he's not a character that shows up in the artwork very much.
II. Shmi! She only has one scene in the movie but for a LOT of fans, that's when Anakin's "turn" really starts, plus it fits the "Attack" theme because she is a symbol of Anakin's loss. Also, Anakin's relationship with his mother mirrors the unconditional love he shares with Padme.
III. This one is tricky, I have a few suggestions. On the one hand, my initial thought was have a dead Padme laid out on her funeral bier - it fits the "Revenge" idea, it shows the change happening in that episode (Padme's death makes Luke and Leia orphans, as a politician her death symbolizes the death of the republic, and her death is the 'death' of Anakin and the birth of Vader). The problem with that is it's a little redundant to have 2 images of women that Anakin lost. However the other suggestion I had was a young Beru, possibly holding baby Luke - an image of the end of one era but the beginning of another, simple farm people holding out through the storm. Problem with that is that doesn't really fit too well with the dark tone of the movie, and it would make the entire PT have covers of characters that live on Tatooine which is again, a bit redundant.
IV. JAWAS! How has no one else suggested this?!?
    V. Also tricky. There's not a lot of unique characters to this movie, and I'm tired of seeing Boba (plus he may have his own movie in the future). I would say either a Taun-Taun or Lando.
VI. Oola. This may seem weird but I think of it on a deeper level, Oola has a lot of mystical meaning for the saga as a whole. She is a slave fed to a monster - Anakin was a slave fed to a monster (Palp). I think of her as almost a Hindu goddess, colored skin, dancing for eternity - Jabba says "Do that again!" and we all know we'll watch the movies again, a repeating cycle. The end of her dance is the end of the dance of the long saga, she kind of symbolizes the air of the "waking up from a dream" that the final sequences of Jedi carry.

Great idea, though for the Hero Set, for ATOC, I'd have Padme (no female characters on the covers so far=very wrong) and for ANH, Luke and ROTJ, Han Solo or Princess Leia.

Reason for lack of female characters in my list was because I wanted to have force sensitives/lightsaber wielders when at all possible. Only reason Boba is in there is because there are sadly only two Dark Side Force sensitives in the OT.

I’d just go with the original theatrical posters because they look cooler.

The Blu-ray Steelbok covers just look like boring, generic garbage.

I actually had this discussion with my Wife when they first released the pics of the steelbooks. I said right then that the characters they picked didn't make sense. I would have went with...

Ep. I: Palpatine (he was the phantom menace)
Ep. II: Clone Trooper or Jango Fett (it's all about the clones)
Ep. III: Anakin (the new Sith)
Ep. IV: Luke (the new hope)
Ep. V: Vader (what better episode than Empire to put Vader's face on?)
Ep. VI: Yoda (a Jedi needs to be on this cover)

    TPM Qui Gon
    AOTC Count Dooku
    ROTS Chancellor Palpatine
    ANH Ben Kenobi
    ESB Yoda
    ROTJ Emperor Palpatine

I think it would be an interesting concept to have the "oldest/wisest/mentor" character on the cover.

Question about the Steelbox Blu-Ray DVDs. Is it just Blu-Ray disc or is a regular DVD thrown in there as well?
Still need to get TPM on DVD or Blu-Ray. Only have it on VHS.
Found it at a B&N today and was wondering.
