You're all mad. The only sane choice for Marvel's first solo female film is Agatha Harkness - older than dirt and still drinking tea and kicking ass. Judy Dench would be the obvious choice, and Andy Serkis could do the mo-cap for her demon cat. That's Oscar bait right there.

Doesn't she fall under the all-encompassing legal haze surrounding the FF, though?

    Agatha Harkness transcends legalities!

And do you really want Marvel's first female solo to be about a hero who's only memorable storyline was about her giving birth to the guy who roofied her?

Any female Marvel solo movie *coughBlackWidowcough* that occurs, under this current movie regeime, it's bound to be miles better than DC's Catwoman movie.

They should make X-Men Origins: Rogue, about her hitch-hiking/bus trip up to Canada after discovering her powers.

Yes, because she's more than that stupid rape plotline, I like her ongoing, and "Bozhe moi, I've been an anachronism kept around solely for eye candy for 22 years!" is a terrible idea for a lead.

Edit: Plus, Captain Marvel in some form seems logical if Phase 2, and particularly GotG, pays off.

To be fair, the last Black Widow series, the one written by Marjorie Lu, was excellent. I'd say it was better than the current Captain Marvel.

    There's no bad characters, etcetera.

If any lady X-Men deserves a solo flick it's Kitty Pryde. End of story.

Excalibur killed Kitty Pryde for me. She was great when she was a smart but very human and fallible girl coming to terms with being a mutant, but by the time Claremont was writing her in Excalibur he had fallen so deeply in love with his creation she became a computer genius expert ninja with a soul so pure she could wield the blackest magic without getting stained. Ugh.

That's true. Even though I hated at the time that Joss Whedon "rebooted" Kitty Pryde and erased all her recent character developement, now I'm glad he did. She was a mess, the worst of the Claremazons, and needed some focus.

Too much love will damage any character - see Wolverine. Inflated well past what originally made the character work, he's like Elvis: the Vegas years - a bloated parody of what he once was.

Isn't there still a Storm movie in the works?

Wasp could work if an Ant Man movie does well.

Haven't we proven by now that Halle Berry is awful?

She isn't awful, she just picks bad movies like Catwoman. Plus Storm is arguably the most marketable female X-Person and is played by a big name Hollywood star.

And that doesn't answer my question.

You clearly haven't seen Swordfish or Monster's Ball.

She's not even terrible in The Flintstones or Die Another Day, despite those movies being rather dumb or OTT silly.

That's like saying Robert Pattinson is awful because he's in Twilight which is lame, he's good in other stuff.

Natalie Portman has made a habit in a lot of her career of doing not-so-good movies and then performing averagely in them. But no-one can look at movies like Black Swan or V for Vendetta or Cold Mountain and say she's a bad actress.

No I've seen Berry's "award" winning work. Wasn't impressed. More baffled that she wins awards. And yes I can look at both V and Black Swan and say Portman is without question an awful actress.

You aren't helping your cause here.

    Clarified.

And she was definitely awful in Die Another Day. It's embarrassing how bad her line reading were.

Claremazons, I like that. Yes, that truly became an annoying Claremont trait. I've always believed he would've made a 100% female X-Men team (with perhaps Wolverine as the sole male lead) if he could've gotten away with it.
