Yeah, that seems more WW2 to me than the cowl-helmet.

However, it's being said by some that these costumes designs are NOT the WW2 uniform, but rather the modern uniform (presumably given to him when he is unfrozen either at the end or in a modern day-set framestory?), so that works for me.

I wonder, since Downey and Jackson and so forth probably won't want to be resuming these roles every year or two for the rest of their lives, what direction Marvel will take after this first cycle of Avengers films (and presumably the first round of sequels, if they do well at the box office). Will they start spreading to other heroes in the shared universe and relegate the heavy hitters to CG shots in the background? Will they ultimately change up actors?

I think in Downey's case he realizes he can only play the role for so long, physically- but between, sya, 2 Avengers films and 3 Iron Man films, he already has a head-start. The Chris's are younger and can do their roles for a few more sequels past him without any problem.

We already know Marvel is looking to expand out into their B-list characters for their next series of films, made on a more moderate budget.

I think what you'll see is, you'll get the heavy hitter sequels off first, with a couple smaller characters launched alongside them. Then probably they'll have a SHIELD movie towards the end of this cycle combining the heavies and some of the second-tiered characters, as something big to go out on.

As the smaller characters take focus, the bigger characters will probably have smaller roles and cameos in the occasional film. Downey can shoot for 2 days as Stark for, say (just as an example), a Moon Knight film without interrupting, say, making Sherlock Holmes 3.

Ultimately, though, I think they will have to recast actors after a certain point- they'll eventually age out of the roles or wish to move on. And I don't see Marvel rebooting their film universe- too many interconnected films to do that.

I'm not sure. Dum Dum is for Captain America, though, I should specify.

Well many articles seem to state Whedon is "unquestionably" the director of the Avengers, but I have yet to see a press release or official statement.

Stanley Tucci will be playing Dr. Erskine in Captain America (the German scientist behind the super solider serum).

That press release does have one quirk though- they specifically label The Avengers title as "MARVEL STUDIOS? THE AVENGERS". Does WB somehow still have dibs on "The Avengers" as a title?

Ugh I hope not. But there are some people who, when the hear "The Avengers" think of British spys and not super heroes. I was talking to my brother the other day and mentioned that Jeremey Renner had been cast in The Avengers and my dad overheard us and thought we were talking about the 60's TV show.

Looks like they're tagging "Marvel Studios'" to all the films now (though maybe it's just for marketing materials). And thankfully they've made The First Avenger the subtitle to the Cap movie instead of the other way around.

I actually like her for the role, but it seems as though Fox has zero interest in consistency between their X-films anymore. One would think an obvious way to strengthen a franchise would be to make it coherent from film to film (and also to develop the films properly instead of selecting a release date and shoehorning the production into that timeframe!), but Fox seems to be moving in the opposite direction. . .

Looks excellent thus far but there's a lot about this movie that I'm still cautious of.

Wait what - Natalie Portman is in this movie?!

    Gods damn it.

Although I guess if anyone has a chance of making her not suck it's Branagh.

QFT. And it's almost as painful watching actors being interviewed as it is watching professional athletes being interviewed. Yikes!

Robert Rodriguez has been offered Deadpool, starring Ryan Reynolds and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland). I actually kind of hope he takes it.

You guys just dislike Portman because of her wooden-ish performances in the PT. She's actually quite excellent in other films, such as V for Vendetta and Cold Mountain, and she seems to get better with age. I have no doubt she can pull off a winning performance in THOR.

I also really enjoyed that interview. She and the Thor actor seem to have a good chemistry that I hope translates to the screen.

No. My dislike for her is independent of my dislike for the PT. I find her annoying and unconvincing, as a general thing: Mr. Magorium, The Other Boleyn Girl, Garden State. . . To me she has not been getting better with age; the high point of her career remains Léon: The Professional.

I think she's fine in Boleyn Girl and Garden State; I honestly don't understand the objection. I haven't seen Magorium because the premise looks absurd. But I stand by my statement that V and Cold Mountain represent her best work, with the notable exception of Leon/The Professional, which I agree is still the high mark of her career.

Benjamin Walker is young Beast. I wonder whether they'll go for the old look or whether he'll just be a younger blue furry guy.
