I couldn't find a thread for people to show off their jedi comlinks, so I decided to make one myself.

Here's my jedi comlink I completed earlier this summer. It's made from mostly found parts from my garage, washers, and these little greeblies that I think you put on shirts (I also used these on my custom lightsaber).

The little thingy sticking out the bottom was intended to hook up to another piece (that I haven't made yet), sorta like what Qui-gon used in TPM to test Ani's blood for midichlorians.

Questions and comments are welcome. Also please feel free to post pics of your comlinks. :)

That's looking pretty sweet there. I'd think that was an actual prop... Nice job!

Looks a tad on the busy side, to me, but it's still cool. I think I'll keep mine more simple, when I finally get around to doing one. I've been getting inspired by people showing their's off over at The Jedi Assembly site.

I have one of the coveted hard Gillette razors that I bought, and used, back in the late 80s, early 90s, I'm not exactly sure when.

I don't really know if it's coveted, but I like to think so, since they are more rare and you can't get them anymore. ;)

I was just noticing that the wavy pattern on the grip area is a little different than the ones with the rubber grips.

And I had forgotten that the middle part was transluscent. It's a sparkly, glittery pinkish-red color.

When I replaced my windshield wipers recently with universal kits, I looked at some unneeded pins in the kits and immediately thought, "these would make some great 'antenna' for my Jedi Comlink!" :D

I'm going to cut off the bottom "protrusions" for easier insertion into the razor body.

Now I need a few more greeblies and some paint. I'm thinking of a black and gold scheme for that. ;)

(I need to clean off the old soap scum before I paint it. [face_blush] :p

I never thought about using something meant for shirts or things like that. More good ideas!
    :)

    Thanks for the comments.

Never underestimate the use of a good greebly. I've found tons of candidates in my garage because my dad is an electrical engineer. I could probably make a lot more cool looking comlinks from them.

As for it looking kinda busy...I wanted it to look like it had a lot of buttons since its basically a futuristic phone. Even though I'm sure in the future everything will be voice activated, I'd imagine phones/comlinks would include more applications. Today, phones can play games, access the internet, instant message, and all sorts of other things. So I was trying to incorperate a communicator, a blood tester, and other uses into my custom comlink.

So, no one else has a comlink they want to showcase? Old or new, it doesn't matter.

I'm still saving my old razor handles, but haven't gotten a chance to start working on the comlink yet.

Love seeing the photos of others though! It'll definitely come in handy when I want to try to make my own.
