I was thinking to put him on my list because I recently read To Kill a Mocking Bird and found him a very respectful character.

I'll leave out Star Wars characters as they are too easy and obvious.

    In no partcular order:

Louis Gridley Wu, 200 year old toruist of Niven's Known Space. The perfect guide to Ringworld.

Ramses from Anne Rice's Rames the Damned.

Conan The Barbarian. I care not if it is the actual books or the films I have enjoyed the character in just about everything.

Dante Valentine. This was a fun world to vist though the author repeats information quite a bit. There is urban fantasy but this is urban scifi fantasy and somehow it all melded well.

Lucifer from I, Lucifer by Glenn Duncan. If you have not read this drop everything and go read it.

Claire Haskell from a trilogy starting with Mirrored Heavens. She is a living biological computer though she doe snot know this at the start. Every cell calculates and processes. And like many she can upload and dowload wirelessley. She can crack anything. The series doe snot quite end as I had wished but was good otherwise.

The Justicar and Escalla from Paul Kidd's Greyhawk trilogy. Fun!

Henry Dorsett Case. The orginal Neo. Add Molly Millions too.

Loki, in many of his various incarnations.

Machiko Naguchi. Had AvP been done correctly it would have starred this character and simply followed the story written by Steve Perry.(But not the 2nd book, skip it)

Count Varian Jeggare from Pathfinder. If any of the Pathfinder books are worth reading it is the 3 so far starring him and his bodyguard.

Jack Brennan. Protector was my intro to Niven's Known Space and this was its very important central character.

    Indiana Jones.

    Dr Lecter.

    Calvin and Hobbes.

    Belkar Bitterleaf.

    Ellen Ripley.

Thomas Covenant. 10th and final book due out soon.

Too many superhero characters to go over. Always liked Iron Fist and Brubaker's reboot was the best.

In no particular order, and excluding SW characters:

    The Joker
    Jake Gittes (Chinatown)
Michael Corleone (The Godf- come on!)
    O'Brien (George Orwell's 1984)
Raoul Duke (various works of Hunter S Thompson, essentially his alter-ego, not entirely fictional)
Mark Renton (various works of Irvine Welsh)
Simon David Williamson (aka Sickboy, various works of Irvine Welsh)
    Batman/Bruce Wayne
    Travis Bickle (Taxi Driver)
Kuwabatake Sanjuro (adopted alias of the un-named ronin played by Toshiro Mifune in Akira Kurosawa's films Yojimbo and Sanjuro)

    Ten will do.

Not enough books in there, now that I think about it.
