That is one of the few tropes that just genuinely annoys me any time it comes up. I mean, if that was true, then ninety percent of traumatic brain injuries would have no effect on the injured person.

Oh, I knew the premise was terrible and I kept lowering my expectations the more I saw. But it had Morgan Freeman and Scarlett Johansson, so I thought "How bad could it really be?" I even hoped that they'd address the stupidity of the 10% of your brain trope. I don't know what I was thinking.

Also, I'd planned to wait for it to come out on streaming, but my friend who was getting married (I was his best man) insisted on watching it as an alternative to a bachelor party (yeah...he regretted that decision :p ).

Anyway, the point is, you must understand that I had incredibly low expectations. Somehow the movie managed to fall significantly short of them.

Lucy was incredibly stupid and also had some major yellow peril problems, but I Iiked Besson channeling Tree of Life during the last act.

In no particular order, GOTG, Snowpiercer, Noah, CA: The Winter Soldier, and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Hasn't been that great of a year for films so far in my estimation.

I actually thought March-June was abnormally strong this year (with ASM2 being the only notable misfire). July was a bit of a dud but GOTG made up for it in Aug at least. The rest of Aug was ok, but nothing special.

Godzilla for me. It's a great summer blockbuster that is actually really thrilling. It does new things with it's property which is more than can be said a great deal of the time unfortunately. I love the fact that it takes the time to show how terrifying it would be to be in that scenario.
