PT Your favorite little moment or detail in the PT? (image heavy)

Anakin Skywalker: frank, real, always with face open, i.e. innocent:



Later in the same movie, half covered by Darth Vader persona. Actually the little detail is that till then he never covers his face with the hood. When he acts as Vader in ROTS his face is half covered or ever seen.


And in the end, completelly transformed:no face, no eyes.


Of course, in the real end (ROTJ) he shows his face to Luke again and frees himself from Vader.

 

After seeing TPM again I must say Shmi is such a great Star Wars character. I found this very old web ad which includes new dialogue I've never heard from Shmi before.

 

The idea for that come to me from another thread where the duel between Yoda and Dooku was discussed. Althought one of the most memorable moments of ROTS is the duel between Obi Wan and Anakin, AOTC also contains duels, they are 3 and are always between master and aprentice (in some aspect). First: Obi Wan vs. Dooku (apprentice pf Qui Gon and master of Qui Gon). Anakin vs Dooku (actual apprentice of Sidious vs. his future one, i.e. in this aspect unusual duel) and the break point: Yoda vs. Dooku when the apprentice and his own master are again each other. Is insane actually because master and apprentice should be together, not against each other. This subtle detail shows that crisis had already began and the breakdown of the Jedi Order is near.

 

Will always be the brief duel between Qui-Gonn and Maul on Tatooine. My own personal fave scene from the Prequels.

 

On The Phantom Menace DVD, there's an extended scene of Padme and the others arriving on Coruscant. After Qui-Gon tells Valorum he must speak to the Jedi Council, the group climbs into an air speeder, and it looks like it's being flown by a Bothan. Perhaps the first on-screen appearance of the Bothans?

 

That's an extended scene? I always thought that was standard, I remember it being in my VHS copy back in the day.

 

I don't remember it in the theatrical version or my VHS copy.

 

Amazing moment for me. Padme actually smiles at Luke (split second to catch it ) and touches his face. Plus, I'd like to think that Padme at that moment somehow knew that Luke would bring out the good in Anakin. She does say "oh Luke".

As Luke is the male she sees in him Anakin, I think. So young and pure as he was in his childhood. And other little but crucial moment: Lea was born second and she witnessed her mother's death. So those vague images that she has in OT make sense because Lea is unusual baby She is heir of her father, after all.

Don't have any pictures or videos, but I've noticed Anakin/Vader has a habit of grabbing his belt buckle, and slowly moving his hands over the belt to his hips.

 

1:01 the way Mace looks down almost in shock at what he did.

Just one of countless cool details throughout this trilogy.

 

I love when TC-14 says "excuse me" to the battle droids. In contrast to 3PO's cowardice, TC-14 is utterly oblivious to danger.

 

We discussed the editing of the PT and I should say that I like the theatrical "sense" that is given by those cuts between the scenes. I mean, when the scene changes it is like the curtains fall and the next scene begins. Some would say it is too operatic, but indeed that's the point, isn't it?

Not only that but Luke was Padmè's desired child sort of speak while Leia was Anakin's:

My favorite and most heart wrenching of all time: The light of the Veranda turning on as Padmè comes to her troubled husband, and the light not really touching Anakin, as if her light wasn't enough to soothe him this time...

 

I'd say it's a push between "Jedi business, go back to your drinks!" (AOTC) and Artoo torching those 2 battle droids (ROTS)
