I love the items and machinery found in Dex diner. In this pic here's Flo (who's design is also exemplary I might add) , on the left shows GL's "international mindset" for SW, with the stainless steel plates set up there. Infact that is EXACTLY the "Thali" a traditional plate usually set for a vegetarian meal.

And here's a sample of the plate:

This can only mean .....the Galaxy Far Far Away isn't actually too far from India. :p :D

    Oh and there's also this,
    [IMG]

Obi Wan may not know it but the guy on the left is actually listening to exotic stuff. Those ARE headsets. Maybe made in India perhaps . [face_laugh]

    Cheers!

A detail I always love is the coughing noise that Greivous makes when he explodes- I don't know why. Another thing I always find funny is when the battle droids say "excuse me" when they are walking by on the Malevolence in ROTS. It's also funny to see all the girls turn and look at Anakin when he walks into the bar in AOTC.

Has it been confirmed by Master John Williams if the celebration theme in TPM is a sped up version of the Emperor's theme?

    Because if so, this.This.

Anakin cutting the wire for the lights and they begjn producing a flicker effect - little bit of symbolism for being in a state between light and dark?

I like to think this symbolism applies to Dooku also as he is wrestling with his former life as a Jedi and his new path as a Sith ("I wish Qui-Gon was here now, I could use his help..")

By the way the following scene of Anakin and Dooku battling it out in darkness with the camera focusing only on their faces is a damn artistic way to film a fight scene - the close-ups give it a different sense of of intensity and almost horror atmosphere to it. Screenshots dont do that moment justice so I'll just provide a quick link:

I just rewatched AOTC a couple days ago and my appreciation of it grew a lot, its faults are not as detrimental as I first thought.

I got the PT on dvd for Christmas (previously only had it on VHS). I forgot how much I liked TPM minus the tatooine stuff - kinda slows the pace imo. One of my favorite all time moments of the entire saga is Obi-Wan and Anakin's duel.

First when he's standing on the ramp of the ship, he just looks like one bad-motha (but in a good way) :

When Kenobi says "I will do what I must". The backdrop of the bright shining light against the darkened skies is a perfect symbolism for the entire saga - "beset by darkness, a brave few will stand against many...to free the galaxy":

The few lines of dialogue by Obi-Wan throughout the duel show the Jedi's views on morality and redemption quite well. The first time I watched it, I was surprised how religious-esque Obi-Wans dialogue and thought patterns were.

His reluctance to fight his own padawan, saying it was his own fault Anakin fell to the dark side, that if he thought the Jedi were evil then he WAS lost (but he says it in a saddened tone), his plea for Anakin to realize it was over, even as he lay wounded he tells Anakin how sorry he is, and how he loved him as a brother, etc.

The first time I watched it, Obi-Wan seemed almost like a priest in that sequence...if priests used mystical powers, carried weapons, and went off fighting wars heh

    EDIT:
That's one reason I liked the PT's they gave Kenobi an AWESOME backstory. Where they failed is they gave Anakin both the personality AND emotional immaturity of Justin Bieber. They took the baddest villain in sci-fi and made him a wuss

Jar Jar talking about Padme to Anakin in the beginning of AOTC:

"She'sa happy, happier than mesa seen her in a long long time."

(and this is admist the attempt on her life along with her decoy being murdered)

Obi-Wan, with smirk on his face:

"She *was* happy to see us."

    ---

I point this out because many people criticise why Padme falls for Anakin in AOTC. Well these lines tell us that Padme is happy to see Anakin again from the moment he arrives, so clearly he has been on her mind for a while.

People also seem to forget or not comprehend the events of TPM in which Anakin selflessly helps Padme on Tatooine to complete her mission and goes on to essentially help save her entire home planet. Not only that but Anakin is a child slave of a planet that the Republic - which Padme serves and deeply cares about - has failed; and he is a child prodigy who goes on to be accepted into arguably the most prestigious establishment in the galaxy.

Anakin is a diamond in the rough and embodies the unearthed potential when peace, fairness and opportunity is not present. It's easy to connect how Padme - a deeply caring person who aims to right wrongs - would be taken in by this person and his situation, in my opinion.

Everyone remembers the 'Anakin Skywalker....meet Obi-Wan Kenobi' moment, but what makes the scene for me is Qui Gon's little chuckle at the end of it. It's a nice little button on a welcome moment of levity, following a couple of intense/emotional scenes in the movie.

While we've all noticed the Vader-like shadow against the dome, it can be easy to miss how Anakin also crosses his arms across his chest much like Vader (or vice-versa) during this moment.

In ROTS, when Yoda is enquiring about Anakin's premonitions, I love Anakin's bow of the head right when Yoda asks whether the premonitions of death are of Anakin or someone "close to you?"

    "... yes."

Anakin looks like a schoolboy about to be told off! And that's exactly what happens as Yoda proceeds to lecture him about fear and how he should not mourn or miss anyone who dies. Just imagine that - you come to your teacher asking for help about the possible incoming death of someone close to you and their first response is not to provide tips on what you could do to possibly prevent it from happening but that you should not miss or mourn them, and that you should rejoice at their death. That's pretty ****ed up! And it's no wonder Anakin didn't think this was an adequate way to handle the situation, in my opinion.

Fantastic thread! I can't possibly pick my favourite but I'll try to contribute!
I only noticed a few background things, the coolest bits are in the battles for sure. For instance Utapau:

Note the grey Clone Trooper on the right, which is a 41st Elite Corp trooper (he shows up in the background again when Cody is asking the Airborne Trooper about Obi-Wan). I find it so cool that they were simultaneously fighting on Kashyyyk and Utapau!

The Clone Trooper in the top right tripping on the Tri Droid and getting stomped!

The Clone channelling his inner Mike Tyson and punching a Battle Droid (he succeeds in taking it out as well)!

The red Security Battle Droids, presumably they were there to protect the Sep. Leaders before they were escorted to Mustafar? They suck at their job either way - not noticing a Republic fleet arrive directly above their top secret base?!

It's interesting that in ROTS Obi-Wan informs Anakin that Chancellor Palaptine, without going through the Council first, has requested Anakin's presence. Presumably Palpatine asked Obi-Wan this directly, likely to encourage division between Obi-Wan and Anakin. Obi-Wan chooses to trust in Anakin by relaying the message directly, without informing the Council himself.

Shortly after the Council then asks Obi-Wan to tell Anakin about the secret assignment to spy on Palpatine. When Anakin asks why he's asking him to do this, Obi-Wan responds "the Council is asking you."

I think this small incident speaks to the dilemma Obi-Wan found himself in, and how in one instance he chose to side with Anakin, and the other with the Council.

When Anakin asks (off-screen) about Padme's love history, the example she gives is from when she was 12. You would presume that a person would give an example from when they're a bit older - if they have one to give, that is. Was Padme too busy as Queen and Senator to ever have a love life? Was she thinking and holding out for Anakin through those years? Or was she simply holding back her answer?

Hmm interesting... I always figured she held out for Anakin but didn't realise it. Though after Clovis in the Clone Wars it appears she had more intimate relations later in life, shortly before AotC perhaps?

Just noticed something regarding my last entry with the Clone hitting the droid...

Padme putting her head in her hand on the ship on Mustafar after she lands, as Across the Stars quietly plays for the last time, is my favourite moment of the PT and never fails to hit me.

I'm a huge fan of Natalie anyway but really, that scene to me is the perfect example of a look saying more than a thousand words.

Its a shame because the platform scene it leads into is horrible and completely brash and overstated, but that moment is just perfect.

I love this scene, for the simple reason that Padme starts showing her "wifey" relationship with Anakin. Telling him how much it displeases her to be forced into hiding. She can't complain to Palpatine nor to Obi Wan but someone she's slowly getting to know. Not sure if that made sense but too bad, it's my moment. [face_batting] :D

She looks at him first ....

and then passes by, sort of storming off toward getting her stuff ready for the journey back again to Naboo missing the fate of the Military Creation Act (that's for another thread but I digress) .

Notice Anakin remains calm. I don't think he dare scold her venting her frustration at his way. ;)
