    hhhhmmmmmmmm........of all time?

How about for now.....and with the note that I see Star Wars films as docu-dramas,
and since "The Force" does exist.....ok, I digress....

Great Thread Eric, had me thinking about this all day at work,

also, Great films everyone, very cool to see your thoughts on this.

tried to pick films I thought I would watch over and over and over again,
as opposed to really great and/or important films that I find
    to be favorites as well.

and so, I just put my list in date order, just so I could say that was the order.

    1927__Metropolis (Fritz Lang) silent
    153-minutes restored. Giorgio Moroder

    1954-Seven Samurai (Akira Kurosawa)
    206-minutes restored. Sub-titled Black&white

    1963__From Russia with Love__ 115-min

    1968__Barbarella___(guilty pleasure)

    1974__Young Frankenstein___Black & White

I'm not going to try to rank them because I love them all so I'm not really sure which stand where. I do which film is my favorite of all time so I can list that safely. The rest are up for grabs as far as spots in the ranking go...

#1 - "Halloween" (1978) - My favorite film of all-time. I know some of you will probably be shocked or think that is somewhat strange (most people I tell this to react that way)...but, whatever. I love it and it's my fave. 'Nuff said.
"The Godfather" (1972) - Probably the best overall film ever made. Everything about this film is classic, timeless & nearly flawless.
"Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" (1989) - Never sure whether I like this or the original more. I LOVED learning Indy's backstory!
"Raiders of the Lost Ark" (1981) - The greatest adventure yarn ever put on film. Escapism cinema at its finest, Spielberg at his best.
"Spider-Man 2" (2004) - Thrilling, beautiful and ultimately quite romantic. The greatest comic-book movie...ever. 'Nuff said.
"Caddyshack" (1980) - One of the funniest movies ever made. Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, Bill Murray, Ted Knight...what a cast!
"A Nightmare on Elm Street" (1984) - The original is still a classic masterpiece of horror.
"Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991) - Breathtaking, ingenious, heart-pounding...a candidate for best sequel ever. This film is awesome.
"Back to the Future" (1985) - The innocent, Capra-esque charm is still strong, even after 21 years. They don't make 'em much better than this.
"It's a Wonderful Life" (1946) - Speaking of Capra...a timless classic whose heart-wrenching tale of everyman George Bailey is as powerful today as it was 60 years ago.
"Star Wars, Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" (2005) - Could very well be the best of the six. Powerful, emotional and downright masterful IMO.
"The Godfather, Part II" (1974) - Competing with "Last Crusade", "T2", "Spider-Man 2", "Episode III" for best sequel of all-time. Just when I thought they couldn't top the original...they make a masterpiece like this!!!
"Star Wars, Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back" (1981) - It only takes two lines for me to sum up why this is one of my favorite films ever...LEIA - I love you. HAN - I know.
"Jaws" (1975) - "You're gonna need a bigger boat." When I heard this line at the tender age of 7 and then saw the overhead shot of the 25-foot monster under Captain Quint's boat, the Orca, I knew I was witnessing movie magic at its finest.
"Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn" (1982) - This movie features one of the greatest scripts ever written. It honors the legendary crew of the Enterprise while putting them through hell and back. Kirk's emotional character arc is powerful and if you have any love for the series it is still almost impossible to watch the finale between Kirk and Spock without shedding a few tears.

There are a ton more that I would consider among my favorites of all time...but I won't bore you all with listing them!
