Your favorite OT sound

There are a lot of "favorite" threads but I haven't seen one for sound. There are the obvious ones like lightsabers and Vader's breathing but I like the little things.

One of my favorites is the sound of the AT-AT's firing at Luke as his speeder gets hit and goes down, almost sounds like the energy bolts are being 'spit' out at him.
I also love the motorized sound of 3PO, especially in ANH, it just makes him seem so real.

 

Probably the sound that's made right before ships go to lightspeed.

I'll go listen to the commentaries and see if the most non boring person on earth Ben Burtt will tell us how he made that sound...

 

I have to go with lightsabers.

The moaning adn drilling sound of all the machinery in the Carbon freeze chamber.

 

nothing sounds quite like a blaster from our favorite mercenary..Han Solo.

Ben Burrt's book was kinda funny (Beeps, Bleats, and Boskas).

But my favorite sound will always be the lighting of a lightsaber. Especially when it happens in RotJ. It's always so dramatic and perfectly timed.

 

Blasters (PT blasters sound crappy) and TIEs, definitely TIEs.

 

The snap hiss of the lightsaber.

I've been waiting for a thread like this, I should've just made one.

I'll never get over the combined sounds of the DSII's superlaser:
beeping sound
alarm sound
charging sound
firing sound (interior)
firing sound (exterior, beams combining)
explosion sound (from the Liberty)

I also love the way Jerjerrod barks 'fire!'

Ben Burtt is a sound genius.

 

Vader's breathing when the Emperor arrived on the second Death Star (ROTJ). He just sounds extra stressed ya know. Like "Damn, the Boss is here! Stay calm, stay calm..."

 

The whine of the TIE fighters and the lightsaber clashes are my absolute favorite sounds in the OT.

The Han Solo torture scene

"I was looking for a real foreboding sound when designing the StarDestroyer klaxon. If you listen carefully its the painful wail of a Bantha that I kicked in the groin..."

 

Lightsabers, tie fighter engine, the Executor plummeting into the DS2, the tractor beam power down as Obiwan turns it off, the droids in the Jawa Crawler, the sound of the AT AT's walking on the ground. Many, many more.

 

My favorite sounds, all of which are also good laughs:

1. Han Solo's scream when he jumps into the trash compactor. Notice the volume steadily getting lower, then suddenly rising before he reaches the bottom.

2. Lando's shriek when the sarlacc grabs him.

3. The Ewok song. "Lota lota lola..."

4. The GONK droids.

5. Chewbacca as he swings to the AT-ST on Endor.

 

In the ESB hangar escape scene, the sound the Falcon makes as it's engine fails to start up before han gives it a "jumpstart."

 

The lightsaber hum.

The original clunking sound R2 made when he keeled over after being zapped by the Jawas in ANH.
