    St Crispin's has already been posted, but I personally always favored Branaugh's delivery of the "tennis balls" speech. Just the way he says "What. Treasure. Uncle." is cinema gold.

    There's probably not a video for this yet, but Silva's intro scene in Skyfall. Just the way it's shot and the monologue make it one of the best villain entrances of all time.

    I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

    Yeah, I can see it now, the distant red neon shivered in the heat. I was feeling like a stranger in a strange land, you know where people play games with the night. God, it was too hot to sleep. I followed the sound of a jukebox coming from up the levee. All of a sudden I could hear somebody whistling from right behind me. I turned around and she said "Why do you always end up down at Nick's Cafe?" I said "I don't know, the wind just kind of pushed me this way."

    Anytime JD shouws up on the Howard Stern Show and tells a story. Is he still on? I have not listened to it in a while.

    David Thewlis has a ton of amazing monologues in Naked, but this one, a musing on the end of days, is my favorite:



    If you haven't watched Naked, you are missing one of the great films of all time.

    I need to own a copy of that. Sadly doesn't seem to be readily available at a decent price 'round these parts. It's Leigh's masterpiece though, and that is actually saying something.

    How many roles are there that are as good as that, though?

    It's hardly of the same calibre, but I'd put him in my top...1 individual performances in the Potter films. Rickman's is the best but it's stretched over 8 films. Thewlis in the third one hits that sweet spot of humanity and oddness. Even if he does seem to bring up how eating chocolate is good for you in every scene.

    He's very very good in Paul Greengrass' debut film, Resurrected. Worth a look if you can find it.
