Between 6-8 years old I definitely saw Rambo 2 & 3, Predator and the Conan/Sonja trio- maybe Robocop.

There might have been others but I have clear memories of those. There was a kid down the street from me and we basically watched whatever his parents had rented that they had laying around. (We didn't make it very far into Empire of the Sun ;))

Some other kid had a couple horror flicks but I forget their rating (Monster in the Closet and Pet Semetary).

At age 9 I managed to convince my parents to let me rent T2 (which partially explains my lasting love of the movie) and, soon after, let me watch Aliens at a different friend's house (which partially explains my lasting love of Cameron films in general- the VHS letterbox release of The Abyss Special Edition being the final piece of that particular puzzle).

Theatrically, my first R-rated film was probably Judge Dredd in '95, followed by The Rock in '96. A multitude followed from that point on.

It was either The Omen or The Exorcist... I saw both of them at a pretty young age, but I don't remember which one I saw first.

Probably Terminator 2. I was 7. I remember that well. It became the favorite movie of my childhood. I would put on the tape when I was home alone and bored. Still probably my favorite action flick.

I think it was Jaws whenever it was first shown on tv. I must have been around 7.

Michael Mann's The Last of the Mohicans when I was about 17 or 18.

I would probably let my kids watch some R movies, like LOTM and Gladiator, before they turn 17 if I think they're mature enough to handle it. The Patriot, Elizabeth(1998), and Olympus Has Fallen, however, would probably wait until they're 17.

Then it must have been Alien but that would have been in the 80's on HBO or Showtime.

My daughter still blames me for her nightmares of IT because, "I made her watch the movie so often". Convenient that she forgets she could have watched whatever she wanted in her own room and didn't have to make me sit in the oversized chair with her while we watched that or X-Files. :p

I miss that little girl. [face_sigh]

    Memory reboot...beep...beep.

Alien was the first I saw by myself. Amityville Horror was the first I saw with others, namely next door neighbors who let me watch with them. I also recall seeing a part of Terror Train with friends, we ran out of the room when this one dude got a surprise neck slice.

I have absolutely no clue: I can't recall a single time I was made aware of a movie's rating. Games, sure, but movies? I couldn't tell you the rating of something I watched last week.
