Agreed. This is how I feel. I go by the official system and everything in their canon is in my canon.

I enjoy the clone wars series because it feels like the same universe but I don't consider it canon at least not all of it. I don't like it how it changes lots of the existing eu like the clone wars comics. The show should have focused more on non-main characters. Ashoka shouldn't have been Anakin's padawan and bringing Maul back from the death was absolutely ridiculous. And don't let me get started about the post-rotj stories... I do really enjoy the clone wars era comics and novels.

Special editions in my book isn't canon.
The Force Unleashed is just a myth and never existed.
The PT is made by a Rebel historian who hated Darth Vader.

Where I'm really bothered by offenses of canon is The Hobbit. The entire middle of the movie is like watching a train derail.

ANH: Owen knows about Anakin Skywalker being Darth Vader. It just makes everything he says that much dramatic and cooler.

The movies, Clone Wars, Plageuis, and KotOR. Everything else can be fun and I enjoy it, but I'm not attached to any of it.

None of it is part of the canon. The Holiday Special is the only Star Warsy thing in existence.

    I accept basically anything unless:
1: It's incredibly stupid. (Some of those comics and novels)
2: It contradicts something in the movies
    3: I just don't like it
4: Star Wars Holiday Special. Need I explain further?
The movies are my guideline for what's entirely true, but EU stuff goes for me:)
    Some things I don't accept:
Darth Maul's return -we seriously couldn't even see the bottom of the pit, how would he survive even if he had the bottom half of himself?
Some of the downright goofy comics in the 80's
    Starkiller -Nope, didn't happen
Other than that (there are probably a few things I am forgetting) I accept pretty much everything

A version of the OT that is basically an OOT/SE '97 hybrid with some personal additions/alterations thrown in; it exists soley within my head.

My own alternate PT which I am currently writing.

Most of the Tales of the Jedi comics except for The Sith War and Redemption.

    The Thrawn Trilogy.

Most of the pre-ROTJ Marvel Star Wars comics (this includes most of the stories by Alan Moore).

    The Corellian Trilogy.

    I, Jedi.

    The Dark Forces Trilogy.

    The Star Wars radio drama.

    The Hand of Thrawn Duology.

    Splinter of the Mind's Eye.

    The Galaxy of Fear series.

    Dark Empire I.

    Crimson Empire I & II.

Various Dark Horse Star Wars comics published prior to the release of TPM.

    Various Star Wars Tales stories.

    Various short stories.

A select few prequel era comics which don't conflict with my version of the OT or my alternate PT.

The director's cut of Dark City (I consider it the origin story of the humans in the SW Galaxy).

    Willow.

The pre-DVD version of THX 1138.

The first three Indiana Jones films.

The Thrawn Trilogy is as canon as any of the movies in my book. So well written. Much the stuff I consider non-canon is the 'super-weapon of the week' and 'how do we cripple Luke to make the plot challenging this week' books. Most stuff I consider canon or 'mostly canon'. This is to say, It had good elements so I'll keep it in even if it wasn't the greatest addition ever.

I've just followed the films, and anything coming from LucasArts/Games/Books etc that slots in before, between and after the current 6 films has made my timeline canon.

I accept certain things, but dislike others, but it's all part of the wider picture so I just accept it and go along for the ride. It's provided many years of enjoyment and discovery of the wider SW universe thanks to the various projects out there, so I'm pretty much at the direction of Lucas himself!

If I have direct personal experience with the material, then it gets added to my canon regardless of what it happens to be. Sometimes I have to make up excuses and I don't usually accept an "official" retcon unless it fits with my own sensibilities (I prefer things to make sense). Of course, this means that some parts of my personal canon fall into the realm of fanfiction, but that's just the way it is.
