Youtube blocking Copyright

    Yes. I wasn't connecting them together. They each had their separate battles.
    Vanilla Ice vs. Queen/David Bowie, and MC Hammer vs. Rick James.

    Yeah I remember now. Its just much cheaper if you cover the song, but you still have to pay some fees. I remember hearing that at USC once. Well I think youtube's overreacting, or rather the people who own and enforce copyrights. Youtube might just be complying with them to keep their site from going down.

    But seriously, if I made something like a song and someone used it, 99% of the time I'd take it as a compliment.

    Anyone releasing stuff that they don't intend to make money off of will likely feel the same way. But if you write/perform music for a living, and you rely on that money, and some dude comes along and uses your song, you will certainly not see that as a compliment. Especially if that person starts making money using YOUR material.

    That's the whole point behind copyright protection.
