Wel, the title ought to pretty much explain it. This was inspired by [link=http://www.youtube.com/results?search=gilmour+bowie&search_type=search_videos]David Bowie's turn on Arnold Layne and Comfortably Numb[/link] at David Gilmour's concert last week.

    So, to kick things off;

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foZpHom-scE&search=tom%20petty]Tom Petty and Axl Rose, "Free Falling"[/link]

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oie72HkdPu8&search=robert%20plant]Aerosmith with Jimmy Page, John-Paul Jones & Robert Plant, "Bring it on home"[/link]

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqU9RZqvFKY&search=jeff%20healey]Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jeff Healey, "Look at Little Sister"[/link]

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMQT41FnyyE&search=bono%20duet]Bruce Springsteen with Bono, "Because the Night"[/link]

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRu975MQigc&search=noel%20gallagher]Coldplay with Noel Gallagher, "Live Forever"[/link]

    Paul Simon & George Harrison, [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCMxPMWKQZQ&search=paul%20simon%20george%20harrison]"Homeward Bound"[/link], [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQsHQ6Az6U0&search=paul%20simon%20george%20harrison]Here Comes The Sun"[/link]

    Please, post more! :D

    Not really unexpected, but

[link=http://youtube.com/watch?v=PvhMnEMdBQs]Billy Preston and Eric Clapton performing "Will It Go 'Round in Circles?"[/link]

[link=http://youtube.com/watch?v=Q1fXhLVaBBY] Derek and the Dominos, Johnny Cash, and Carl Perkins[/link]

[link=http://youtube.com/watch?v=LAjdRHzH4M8]John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, and Mitch Mitchell performing "Yer Blues."[/link]

Oh, and I love how Jimmy Page is high out of his mind yet still manages to play the "Layla" riff.

To be fair, Allmann & Clapton were high out of their minds when they wrote it...

That Perkins, Clapton, Cash clip is magic! Thanks.

What about William Shatner singing Rocket Man? I don't think it's on You Tube, but it's pretty easy to find on the web, along with the Family Guy parody with Stewie mimicking his performance.

    Looks like Tim Renwick.

I wouldn't class Clapton "Cocaine" or Hendrix "Hey Joe" as unexpected covers. :p

Gabe, great list, off to check some out now.

Edit: That Gilmour solo on the Purple Rain cover!
