We have been speculating about how old a Yuuzhan Vong can get for some time. We know that it took the Yuuzhan Vong some thousand years to cross over from their galaxy. We know from th NJO sourcebook that their bio-technology was given to them and was invented by other beings.

Let's say there were the Vong. Than came these other beings, gave them their bio-technology, and they started using it and evolved as the Yuuzhan Vong. This could explain why they want to be called Yuuzhan Vong and hate the name Vong.

The beings that invented the boi-technology could have been the Yuuzhan. Why would they give away their technology? Because they couldn't use it anymore. Because they were dying. Maybe there were only three Yuuzhan left. The soon-to-be Yuuzhan Vong gods.

Now the Yuuzhan are dead, and the Vong have turned into Yuuzhan Vong, start fighting and destroy their galaxy. And then they cross over to the GFFA.

It's all in the bio-technology. Genetic manipuations. Very close to cloning gone wrong. It makes them fight. Makes them hate themselves. Therefore the mutilations. They realize they have turned into bio-machines, and hate all machines because they hate themselves. And, due to the genetic manipulations, they live very, very long. Their life cycle starts all over again when they get a new implant.

So they crossed the void between the galaxies. Started conquering the GFFA. And then they found out they are dying. Like their worldships. New implants won't help. They are repelled, like Tsavong Lah's arm.

They hoped the knowledge of the Jedi would help them, but when they torture Jacen they find out it doesn't.

That's what Luke and Mara will discover in Rebel Stand. When everything seems to be lost, the Yuuzhan Vong will die.

And some forgotten clone trooper will release some left over Krytos virus spores and fulfill the emperor's last command:

Wipe them out. All of them.

    Not really on topic, but...

The emperor's last command was to Mara. It was "Kill Luke Skywalker"

I am not up to date on the literature in the NJO, i jsut finished conquest, but is it possible that the force which binds the GFFA is whats killing the Vong? or is that explained in a later book?

Tsavong Lah is the only YV to have an impant rejection it his a part of his storyline. The rejection is implied to be caused by his failure to sacrifice the Solo twins. Nen Yim got an implant and didn't have it rejected. It would be a terrible way to finish off the YV through a disease and not a great battle.

The other theory about the YV being bio Machines is very interesting and very plausible and could be a revalation used in the final books of the NJO series.

Lets not forget all of the Shamed-Ones, like Vua Rapong (I think thats spelled correctly). They have all had implants fail. and they are also the ones who will be seen to spearhead the whole Pro-Jedi stance that vong will eventually adopt.

I think they'd have to have a reason to leave their galaxy. Perhaps there was another race with extremely advanced technology? that could explain why they hate technology.

The reason that they left their galaxy is that it is completely devastated and destroyed.
