Please note this is all from Wizards.com, annonced by TF.N

Many things are called "monster." In fact, the word is overused. However, anyone who has seen Tu-Scart and lived can use the term without fear of exaggeration. If anything in the galaxy is worthy of the name "monster," it's Tu-Scart and its partner, Sgauru.

Tu-Scart is a unique creature, a serpent-like monster bred by the Yuuzhan Vong. Its name literally translates as "slithering smasher," although it's occasionally called "Beater" by its breeders. Survivors of the monster's destructive rampages have a variety of names for Tu-Scart as well, including "Slithering Destroyer," "Crawling Wrecker," "Serpentine Crusher," and "Coiled Juggernaut." Tu-Scart is half of a symbiotic team, the other partner being Sgauru. In fact, much of Tu-Scart's history and purpose applies to Sgauru as well.

The pair was created 50 standard years ago by the master shapers under supposedly "divine inspiration" from Yun-Yammaka, the Slayer, the Yuuzhan Vong god of war. The Yuuzhan Vong had need for large beasts suited to level their opponents' sacrilegious artificial structures quickly and efficiently while spreading the most terror and awe among the populace. With such creatures responsible for destroying large buildings and installations, the warrior caste could concentrate on the tasks of conquest and gathering sacrifices. Legend has it that Yun-Yammaka directly imparted the monster-creation knowledge to the shapers and ordered them to create the pair for the purposes of cleansing the galaxies and freeing the warrior caste to fulfill their higher purposes.

Even the average Yuuzhan Vong holds the symbiotic pair of destroyers in awe. Only the monsters' handlers and warmaster Tsavongh Lah himself are so used to the pair that they consider them just more servants of the Yuuzhan Vong's holy cause.

Aside from its role as a destroyer of buildings, Tu-Scart's massive presence deals the local populace a severe psychological blow, discouraging resistance. Tu-Scart travels aboard warmaster Tsavongh Lah's ship and is only released on his personal say-so. Despite its bulk and mindless, brutish nature, Tu-Scart is quite placid during space travel, as long as it remains fully contained in a Yuuzhan Vong environment and not "provoked" by someone bringing a blasphemous alien inorganic object into its sensory range.

When the creature is exposed to a less "pure" environment (for example, one with buildings and machinery), it instinctively goes berserk and heads for the nearest structure, intending to level it as quickly and brutally as possible. Handlers with amphistaffs guide the creature if a particular building or piece of machinery needs to be destroyed first. Tu-Scart's coils are large and strong enough to loop around buildings and crush them.

Tu-Scart resembles a giant, glossy black snake, 14 meters long, with flat black eyes. Its skin is supple and smooth, although it has a bony ridge that goes from the tip of its tail to the base of its skull. Scientists speculate that the bony ridge acts as a "hold" for when Sgauru rides on its back.

Like a snake, Tu-Scart uses its tongue to pick up odors and is especially adept at "sniffing out" the largest concentrations of artificial construction and power sources. In fact, Tu-Scart's sharp senses are the main sensory input for the pair of destroyers (Sgauru's senses are notoriously underdeveloped).

Tu-Scart has a dense, bony skull that allows it to use its head as a battering weapon without causing itself undue pain or injury. Its favored attack, however, is to loop its coils around its target and constrict until the object shatters. Although it was bred to demolish buildings, Tu-Scart has sufficient muscle control to use its constriction attack on much smaller targets, such as human-sized beings. Tu-Scart also has a pair of non-venomous fangs that it uses in combat, although usually only as a last resort.
