Well, my personal fan-theory is that when Mara's body disappeared in Inferno, it wasn't becasue she was fading into the Force...

Jacen and Tahiri's flow-walk triggered an alternative timeline in which she's still alive, and which is now struggling for equilibrium with canon.

When Jacen showed up, trailing contact with this "B timeline", the Force responded to the incongruity by erasing the "A timeline" Mara...

I like where you're going with this theory, let me add to it...

...as part of this new timeline struggling with the old one, Anikan Solo re-appears back from the dead not knowing what happened to him and upon seeing what's become of Jacen & what he's done fights & kills him in single combat.

 

Nah, I still prefer that Jacen goes back and sacrifices himself in Anakin's place, and that's how he brings about peace. That's about the only way I'd approve of Caedus dying at the end of LOTF.

 

I'd very much like Jacen dying being proven to be an utter & compelete failure at everything he every tried to do but that mostly cause he's been my personal Jar Jar Binks since I read Balance Point. Plus Legacy & the current LOTF books point to that direction.

 

I'd just have Zaun come back so he can save the post RotJ era. I know he could pull a Nolan.

I wouldn't mind if he cloned Mara. The clone would technically be a new character and would probably have a different personality. She probably wouldn't be attracted to Luke and would not see Ben as her son( maybe as a friend if they got to know each other better).

 

I'd prefer Zaahn.

No, no, no.

This is what would happen:

Ben learns that he's destined to kill his father and marry his mother. He's understandably scared and confused by this (not least because his mother is dead) so he runs away from Luke.

He then accidentally flow walks back in time and is responsible for Anakin Solo's death (thus killing his true father) but loses his memory in the process. He's catapulted back to the future where he rescues a beautiful redheaded woman in her early forties. Turns out that Mara was captured shortly after giving birth to her son, put into statis and then cloned (and that clone lived her life afterwards, ala Spiderman)... her "Kill Luke Skywalker" command has been reactivated however and her memory is fuzzy on her relationship to him. So she goes off, kills Luke Skywalker and then shacks up with her rescuer.

Bwahahaha.

 

Anyway...wow - from possible Zahn's novel to Oeidipus complex. So many possibilities in SW universe...
The question is who would be brave enough to clone Mara Jade...

But if Zahn wants to write a book about Mara, Ben and Luke after LotF he still can. With Force ghosts, flow-walking and I don't know what else...
