If she IS a shapeshifter, its a waste of a good idea.

Why would she not use this in her assassionation attempts? It feels tagged on.

It would be like if we found out as she was dying that she could shoot lasers out of her eyes. Why would she not use this against the jedi earlier.

Why wouldnt she impersonate OB1 and kill padme upclose? Its poor plotting.

I'll give credit where credit is due. But I can't say I really buy into this whole shape-shifter thing from Episode-X. Although there are some grey areas where sci-fi and fantasy share real estate, I feel that shape-shifting is truly an element of fantasy.

In fact, I remember an old documentary that showed some strange species, invertebrate and aquatic I think, that could change their shape... slowly. That's where fantasy and SciFi comes in, it only accelerates the process.

    About Zam's clothes, aren't they elastic ?
They don't seem to be totally rigid.

    No, no, no.

The big twist is: Zam is Padme. And Aurra Sing too. *And* Shmi. She's being used by Palpatine to bring Anakin to the Dark Side.

    Man, Palpatine is slick...

    Zam is a TRANSFORMER!

Holy crap this thread has grown!

I can't believe there is going to be a shapeshifter in SW, you guys told me this movie was going to be cool! Now it totally sucks! Ha ha ha.

Seriously, there must be more to this that we will see in 99 days, b/c at this point it really sounds useless, unless GL is doing what Twink Kee said and lessening the impact of another death on screen, which IMO is worse than any recycled idea in the first place. Death happens, I can handle a little death.

Zam=nothing more than a master of diguise who doesn't have to buy the makeup and wigs

But, just like every master of disguise, she has to change wardrobes.

I'd say this is more of a "rip-off" of some old detective or sleuth comics/book/tv shows that Lucas probably used to watch/read than it is a rip-off of some modern sci-fi or fantasy concept.

Why have swords when you can have laser-swords?

    Still don't like this idea..

There's gotta be a reason why Lucas has made her into a shapeshifter. Maybe we've seen her before and just dont know it.

Zam's a shape-shifting assassin JUST LIKE the Terminator in T2.

As Zam dies, she cycles through all the forms she's taken on JUST LIKE the Terminator in T2.

BUT her clothes don't change shape like the Terminator in T2's did.

    COMPLETELY ORIGINAL, I'd say! ;)

I agree with TickleMeBinks "who cares if the whole shapechanging idea has been used several times before?"

We're overreacting about this minor detail of another shapeshifting assassin.
We're overreacting about this minor cameo of a boy band.
We're overreacting about this title that even Ewan MacGregor dislikes.
We're overreacting about this stitled dialog?
We're overreacting about (fill in the blank)

People: WE NEED TO LEARN TO REACT THE RIGHT WAY!!!

I have faith in GL to use her shapeshifting ability cleverly during the chase sequence, most likely in the club when she is sneaking up on Obi-Wan.

It's not a big deal, and frankly, I kind of like the idea.

Maybe she was made a shape shifter so she can regrow her arm after Obi-Wan lops it off ;)

WHoever said this is an EU dream come true was right. Fortunately it's an EU dream that doesn't bother me.

Maybe when she disintegrates, she turns into the ground like in terminater 2. So then really she is still alive.

Maybe she can only change form every so often, like it takes a lot out of her.

I dont like the idea of a shapeshifter though, but if when shes dying she changes to Panaka, Aurra Sing, or someone like that, it would be kind of cool. [face_plain]

I remember the rumors of Queen Jamilla actually being a shape-shifting Sith Witch who was in on Palpatine's plot.
