Oh, that wasn't me. That was from a critic on RT.

His taste in films seems to be somewhat dubious, so really dented his hyperbolic reaction to Solo.

I've repurposed the quote and given you credit. That's just how it's going to be.

I'd put that partly down to poor marketing instead of it just being a story people aren't that bothered by.
Disney has done very little to promote it in most places that I've seen.

Yet Jurassic World has had advertising in place for months.
And people are hyped for that despite the fact the previous one was meh.

Plenty of people cared enough about Avengers.

Maybe the average reception of TLJ didn't help.
Black Panther was great, created hype for Avengers.

I think Disney don't care about the movie, and it's reflected in the lack of public interest.
If they wanted it to be a hit, they'd have pushed it hard.
They'll market the **** out of Mary Poppins returns before December, but how many people care about that right now?
They'll care if Disney tell them to.

Shame, because Solo certainly isn't a terrible movie.

Yeah sure, let's just blame marketing. Cool.

Also affected by the release time.

1 month after the biggest movie of the year, 1 week after Deadpool, 2 weeks before Jurassic World.
Too many movies too close together.

Plus it's not that long until Incredibles 2, which is likely to be the biggest movie of the summer.

For the average moviegoer, it's a lot of movies at high price to spend money on. Makes sense to save for the really major movies.

True, watching Solo is probably merely doing Hellwork rather than watching Hellwork.

I enjoyed the movie. It was bad, as things are, but I enjoyed it.

Disenjoyment may take a while to set in. Just give it time.

It's nowhere near prequel level bad. It's not badly made. It's really like an old Western movie. It's bad because it's pulp.

It's an object lesson in Not Expecting So Much From A Star Wars Movie.

If I end up going I'll probably bring my expectations with me but check them at the door. If I leave them lying around the house the dog will grab them and bury them in the back yard next to my tennis shoes.

There's no escaping Star Wars. An ad on the subway has informed me that I can't spell "schizophrenia" without "hope." Mental illness plus hope is always going to remind me of CGI Carrie Fisher.

    I like that

Aurra Sing's fate is revealed, since TCW couldn't tell us.
And that Bossk gets a mention

A director, but no reason to exist.

Sounds like most of these films we don't need - Solo, Fett, Kenobi.

    Good choice for director.

Fett at least has the greatest potential for storytelling since his past isn't as well known outside of the Prequels.
And the underworld/bounty hunter stuff could be pretty interesting to see.

Better than Obi Wan sitting around in the desert for 20 years.
