If I were tasked with making a Boba Fett movie, I'd want to answer the question - why should I care about this guy? He's a bounty hunter so do I give him a heart of gold underneath a hard exterior; do I give him a moral dilemma where he chooses the right thing to do? How do I make the audience care about this guy?

Then I get my idea, I write my story, and then maybe I get in my own head or maybe the Lucasfilm story group gets involved. I happen to portray Boba in such a way that conflicts with his ruthlessness in the way he acts in the comic when Vader tasks him with finding Luke or again in Empire when he's tasked with finding Solo and friends. He raises his gun to simply shoot Chewy in Empire. IMO, he's a shoot first - ask questions later type of guy. He saw his father murdered in front of him. He's had to make his way in the galaxy with little to no help from anyone else. He's a bad guy. I'd want to portray him as such and not just a puppet for Vader or Jabba or anyone.

So at the end of the day, I wouldn't want the job. The only movie about a bounty hunter I really want involves a person named Samus Aran.

An underworld movie is probably the best bet. Let's bring back Star Wars 1313.

Mangold is at least the right director to make Boba a great anti-hero if that's what LFL want.

Looking at Mangold's best known work according to Wikipedia, I can already see him and KK having a problem.

Cop Land (1997) - never saw
Girl Interrupted (1999) - never saw
    Kate & Leopold (2001) - never saw
Walk the Line (2005) - excellent
    3:10 to Yuma (2007) - never saw
Knight and Day (2010) - garbage
The Wolverine (2013) - not great
    Logan (2017) - just okay

I'm not seeing a pattern there unless KK is known for her intense dislike of directors you've only only seen half the work of.

Boba preserved the head and became a bounty hunter to raise the funds to make a robot body for his father.

It was going to be a story saved for the final series of The Clone Wars, but it's now going to be the ending of the Boba Fett movie.

Jango's head falls out before the helmet hits the ground, you can apparently see it in shadow as the helmet is falling in AOTC.

    According to Hidalgo anyway

If I was giving a director + points for good movies and - points for bad movies and I haven't seen a specific movie, I can only judge them on what I've seen.

    Walk the Line (2005) 5/5
    Knight and Day (2010) 0/5
    The Wolverine (2013) 2/5
    Logan (2017) 3/5

    10/20 or 50% so he's be a coin flip

If I was KK I would have went with Lord and Miller too based on their experiences - I liked Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Lego Movie, as well as 21 Jump Street.
22 Jump Street wasn't as good as 21, but I still would have given them the job based on the work they did that I liked. I'd also look how much each movie earned as well.

Frankly, I still don't understand how Lord and Miller got away with The Lego Movie. That film is such a subversive masterpiece that I'm surprised it wasn't cancelled and turned into something that resembled the Lego Ninjago movie instead.

Given that the final act of the film criticised Lego's current business strategy of focusing on branded building kits, instead of the imagination-based play that the company was founded upon, and they were so ignorant that they still made Lego kits based upon it, I would argue that, yes, it's a pretty subversive movie.

That's been the Lego brand's core talking point since about 2010.

Boba going Poor Yorick with his dad's head would save the character.

It took me a surprisingly long bit there to realize you didn't mean @poor yorick was somehow particularly noteworthy for his work with severed heads. I had so many questions.

Less severed heads, more Fett talking to Dr. Melfi and of course crapping his pants.
