Wait. You think that qualifies as bottom of the barrel?

Are the new books any good? I mean as actual books not "for SW books".

I'd say the Palpatine Vader Buddy Cop novel was pretty good, "for books."

LotF is when I quit reading EU, so yes, I also found it funny. "Bottom of the barrel" is a stretch, but it was indeed terrible. Of all the concepts to reappropriate.

We don't actually know that they will be reappropriating this.

No, but script rumors I've read have proven true so far (e.g., Vader's melted helmet, AnaLuke's saber, desert planet, crashed ISD, etc.) so I wouldn't be surprised if a certain rumor being true* led to that.

I figure it was the worst EU moment because that's when the whole thing fell through. It was like the entire staff just threw their hands in the air and said "we don't know what to do with these people anymore". They'd karked it all up, to use a phrase. They had been doing that little by little for a while, but this was the point of no return.

Ramza - the sea weeds on the pirate ships of Drexel - those were high water marks. Jaxxon was just a high mark.

The whole thing fell through when they decided to bring in extragalactic invaders for 20 books.

Also having the Solo kids fight each other wasn't what made the EU dumb IMO. Even if what Even says about the script rumors turn out to be true, that's not what worries me.

Yeah, the idea itself is, well, not original, but hardly a crime or a stain that doesn't allow a good storyline to grow out of it.

New to this thread, I believe. Some idiot twittered that's you can't tell its a woman. The SW Twitter replied "It's armor. On a woman. It doesn't need to look feminine."

    So they're awesome.

I've never read most of the EU, but from what I've heard, I would think the moon falling on Chewie was as low as it could go.

Vector Prime was the first proper EU book I ever read (Unless you count the Jedi Prince kids' books, which I don't think most people do).

It... was a while before I tried to read other ones.

Vector Prime was definitely the beginning of the end.
Proof? It came out in 1999.

I've been out of the EU loop since Splinter of the Mind's Eye, 1978, by the amazing Alan Dean Foster. When Star Wars II hit theaters in 1980 and failed to be an adaptation of that book I realized that the EU was useless to me. In hindsight I'm probably glad that it wasn't the script to part 2, but at the time it took some getting used to.
