The gist on my perspective is any PT criticism is stale. Not incorrect. But stale. Boring. Run into the ground (a decade ago). You sound like cranky old geezers when complaining about movies that have been out since I was seven years old.

Keep the PT in your memory. Remember the movies you actually like, like the OT or Blade Runner! Hearing you guys wax poetic about your dumb, endearing action figures is much more endearing than you snarling about your memories of AOTC's midnight premiere.

Collectively, of course, Idk if you saw AOTC at midnight (I didn't, I was too young, because that movie came out sixteen years ago).

What else were the cool kids watching in 1983? Superman II?

If only I was exposed to Cronenberg at seven years old instead of Lucas.

Or that 45 year old who's still obsessed with their senior year of high school.

    Fanny and Alexander, obviously.

In Canada it's mandatory for elementary school students to watch The Fly.

Yeah, remember that the year before was Tron, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, The Secret of Nimh, Tootsie, Annie, E.T., and Conan the Barbarian. Let alone Megaforce, Firefox, Rocky III, Blade Runner, The Beastmaster, The Last Unicorn, Airplane! II: The Sequel, and The Dark Crystal.

I was a busy kid back then. Porky's was a bridge too far for my parents though...

Weird, I don’t think of Nimh being early-80s, but of course it was.

It's because of the timeless and unimpeachable creative instincts of the man who also gave us *checks notes* A Troll in Central Park.

Well, to be fair, Bluth was way, WAY ahead of everyone else in that time-period with hand-drawn animation, imo (I have a bias here though). His storytelling skills... dropped... after An American Tail (and Dragon's Lair and Space Ace!)...

Yeah, you can basically thank him for getting Katzenberg jealous enough to set off the Disney renaissance, furthermore setting the wheels in motion for last year’s masterful remake, Beauty and the Beast. Thanks Don.

You're saying you didn't appreciate the subtle narrative nuances of Rock-a-Doodle?

I can't swear I've ever even heard of Rock-a-Doodle, but I definitely know about Banjo the Woodpile Cat which, if you read the plot these days, would probably not be appreciated these days...

i've seen rock-a-doodle probably 30 times (for some reason it was my kids' favorite when they were little). i still couldn't tell you anything that happens in it other than a chicken singing.

I was just listening to a Mike Zeroh Star Wars gossip podcast (sorry) and a comment caught my eye:
"Disney better stop politicizing these movies or they will see tickets sales and ratings continue to drop".
The comment was written by a guy called Vezner.
