I just mean that I think Lusa was brought back, and then killed off, within like 2 pages. Dorsk 82 was a few more. not sure how you're defining offscreen, but I seem to recall the deaths are described, just not detailed or such. not like it was just mentioned they died by other characters.

It follows the same 3-year cycle as the other 6.

Trimaj , maybe it's not confirmed, but I'd bet on it. Maybe not 10k, but I'd bet on it :p

    Iello's been busy?

    Interesting to note:

    1) DIS stock closed down 36bps today - short-term reaction to the use of $2bn in cash and the rest in stock to Lucasfilm (lower dividends for shareholders)
    2) Indiana Jones was not included in the $4bn valuation for Lucasfilm - it's just based on Star Wars, Skywalker Sound and ILM. Interesting...

i'm just taking an i don't know until i'm told by official sources dreamer. fair enough?

    EDIT

ender: yea, they don't consider indy to be an asset. more of an encumbrance was something that i read somewhere, which i was a bit surprised by. basically the only assets were those mentioned. makes me wonder about the future of things like lucasarts.

Someone please tell me I wasn't this annoying back in 1999 when we were going through all the initial stuff for AotC and the early NJO stuff? Please?

Taking the basic premise and running with it? Yes, definitely. Attempting to adapt the NJO in any way? No. God no.

(Unless it has Lusa getting run down by voxyn. I need a laugh.)

No, Indy has encumbrances which means Paramount still has distribution rights on it. Therefore, any valuation of the Indy licence would need to factor in how much Indy makes per annum (and could make in future earnings) vs how much it would cost to keep Paramount either on board (in terms of lost revenue) or to settle on Paramount stepping aside (which means they lose future earnings).

Either way, someone loses out on their potential earnings.

Indy, therefore, has a massive amount of money to lose because of Paramount's involvement and until that can be resolved - which is going to be months and months of negotiations and wrangling. Which means, as a positive, they can't make a Mutt Williams movie! :D

However, since the shareholders in Lucasfilm Ltd approved the deal, it seems they're not worried.

which... doesn't really make anything i said invalid. the indy franchise, as things stand now, isn't being considered an asset. so... going into the details doesn't really change that much.

And yeah, I just said the exact same thing when I saw this. The creature concept is great. But that absolutely doesn't mean you have to actually keep any of the story or characters. I could see that happening.

Sorry when I read encumbrance, I thought you meant it was considered a liability and not an unvalued asset on the LFL books. I blame, um, GrandAdmiraIJello

Didn't he make a film just like that? I mean, if you substitute Earth for the GFFA, the Avengers for the Jedi, and the Chiaturi (sp?) for these Vong characters, you've got The Avengers script. Frankly, I'm of two minds about this kind of story. SW has always been a "galaxy (and family) divided against itself" kind of story. It would be an awful leap for it to become a "galaxy against the great big other." Yeah, they did it in EU books. Doing it, even taking just the basic premise and big ideas, as the next big movie trilogy (or however many there'd be) is quite another thing.

Well arguably the Reavers owe a bit to the Vong...

He'd do well with NJO. What with his joy for killing characters.

I wonder what would happen if Russell T. Davies or Steven Moffat were helming this trilogy?

    Dear lord, it's starting...

I really liked the Wire, therefore it's logical and commercially viable for me to suggest that the new trilogy star Dominic West and Idris Ebla and be set in the seedy underbelly of Coruscant's spice war!

Just because you like, say, pizza and icecream doesn't mean pizza-flavoured icecream is a good idea. And it's great you discovered Dr Who after it's revival, don't get me wrong... just... why would the people who revived it, one of whom did Queer as Folk, be even remotely worth considering for these films?!

Any pornos you like that maybe we could tout their 'directors' for Star Wars involvement too? Some digital content producers from YouTube maybe? Oh and I love the West Wing, Aaron Sorkin should OMG TOTES write the screenplay.
