i'm hoping that it will be somewhere between "the last unicorn" and the "last starfighter" in that it will trigger my nostalgia in just the right way, unlike "the last knight" which is sure to do just the opposite. seriously though, this is like the most generic title possible.

 

I hope it's as good as The Last.

The red does look good. And immediately makes me think this one will end in victory for the New Order. Which, isn't a surprise, I suppose.

 

So it could refer plurally to Luke and presumably Rey being trained as a Jedi or it could really mean Luke is the last of the kind and Rey is simply trained as a light-side user of the Force as distinct to becoming a Jedi.

 

The Order doesn't exist anymore, so I guess Rey can't be a Jedi same as Kylo Ren can't be a Sith

 

Maybe Rey becomes a sith. Now that would be a twist.

 

Of course... given the nature of the 2nd film in a trilogy, the First Order will definitely see enough things go their way.

 

or maybe luke is the last of the jedi until rey is fully trained, that way they can follow recent trilogy naming conventions and call episode 9 "the last jedi rises".

Eventually the bad guys WILL get the whole "indestructible, unstoppable superweapon" thing down pat.

 

The Clone Wars mentioned a Mandalorian-Jedi conflict in 2010. That's what they were referencing

Also, no: mentioning a war from the past that wasn't canon in a canon show doesn't make it canon.

If anything, all it says is that at some point in history the Jedi and Mandalorians fought a war against each other, not that the Mandalorian Wars from KOTOR happened.

Well not in the same way obviously, I mean we've already seen Malachor used in an episode & it wasn't the same.
But it still happened in the past, before the movie timeline.

Whether it was before or after the death of Tarre Visla is not yet known.

If Revan is ever made canon, presumably most of the events in his life would be. Unless changed within movies or TV

 

Maybe all three movie titles together form a complete sentence, such as "The Force Awakens The Last Jedi From a Long Nap."

Kinda getting this vibe from "The Last Jedi" title.



It's actually funny, because when I saw the Force Awakens, I got this feeling that the universe was broken, sick somehow, like thins weren't supposed to end up this badly. And the last time I got that feeling was KOTOR 2.

 

I like the title; let's face it. The titles are all a bit **** with some exceptions.
The Phantom Menace? Good, in that b-movie way.
Attack of the Clones? Everything about this movie was, and still is, awful.
Revenge of the Sith? Ehhhh I mean come on it's just a play on Return of the Jedi but Lucas gets to keep his wish to use that word at the expense of coherent and consistent plotlines.
A New Hope - Actually quite good
The Empire Strikes Back - Fitting, very b-movie
Return of the Jedi - Fitting, very b-movie
The Force Awakens - Thanks, Freddie Foreshadowing!
The Last Jedi - it implies things from Luke dies as Rey is Knighted; to Skywalker as the last of the Jedi (both mentioned in TFA, and ROTJ when Yoda dies), to a revival of the Ernie Reyes Jr TV show "The Last Electric Knight"

Where the Rebels show is going though... I like less.
