Aaaarrgghhh....Lego Games!

I was having fun building Lego sets with my 6-year old daughter, so I thought: let's slip in Rey's speeder. She enjoyed that a lot, so I went ahead and bought the Falcon. We just finished it this weekend. Then we played the Star Wars Lego game and now she just wants to play that. So this trailer was perfect timing. The speeder and the Falcon are in it, and they look just like the toy. But a June 28 release? That's some seriously crappy timing.

 

I'm just so tired of the Lego releases.

Can't we have a Poe spin-off game? That isn't Lego?

Then you should probably stop buying them?

 

I did - I quit after my first one.

So then what's the big deal? It's not like the LEGO games are made "instead" of other games, unless EA bought Traveller's Tales when I wasn't looking.

 

Because they seem to be focusing on those more than standalone Star Wars games.

 

I would like another Rogue Squadron game. We can do the trench run... on the Starkiller base!

 

It's been a while since we've had a Star Wars single player FPS. Nope, the wafer thin modes in Battlefront doesn't count.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if future DLC for Battlefront does something along these lines. We already have a Jakku based map.

 

If Traveller's Tales wasn't working on LEGO TFA they'd be working on some other LEGO game. That's literally all they do. I cannot state in strong enough terms that LEGO Star Wars in no way impedes the development of other Star Wars video game projects. That's all on EA not thinking you're worth their time.

 

Well, yes. Given EA's four-installment DLC plan which extends to January of 2017...yep...I guess money in other areas could have been far better spent.

 

Really the only thing surprising me right now is that we haven't gotten a Starkiller base building mobile game.

I'm still holding out hope for an extremely unlikely Republic Commando sequel....

 

There was one, Imperial Commando, but it was one of many cancelled titles in the turmoil of LECs final years.

 

You have more chance of Star Wars 1313 being revived, especially since RC is set during the prequel era and the push for now seems to be post-Yarvin.

 

The cancelled game was set post Ep4, but yeah, no chance.

There's still that mystery DICE SW game which according to Nolan North takes some elements from 1313, so it looks like it'll be revived in some form eventually.

 

I wouldn't keep your hopes up given that Battlefront's marketing roll-out ends around this time next year. I get the impression they're going to be putting all of their resources into free and paid DLC between now and then. The servers aren't as populated as they were before which is one indication that the players are starting to tire of it which mans EA/Dice are going to throw everything at Battlefront, at the very least for the next 6 months.
