I'm sure there are less offensive ways to waste bandwidth, like watching porn?

If you missed TPM last night you'll have another opportunity to catch it this month. It's like a cold or stomach flu.

I already have all the films on Blu Ray. I'm not concerned with missing any of them on TNT.

I was curious what version of the film they'd be playing on TNT, and I can confirm, for those who care, that it was the most recent version with the digital Yoda (not the puppet). I don't recall which version Spike played, but I remember it playing on TV years ago and still seeing the puppet which I found odd as the digital Yoda version was available to the public.

So technically (canon-wise) we have digital Yoda in 1-3, and puppet Yoda in 5 & 6.

    1) Do you think Lucasfilm will ever replace puppet Yoda with digital Yoda in episodes 5 & 6?

    2) IF we do see a Force Ghost Yoda in episodes 8 or 9, will it be the puppet or digital?

I'm just annoyed that my theatrical release DVDs from 2006 miraculously stopped working.

Disney owns The Muppets, so no. They also bought Pixar, but let's ignore that.

There are no current plans to replace the Oz puppet Yoda with a CG one. The main reasons they took the TPM puppet out was because of his poor appearance and that he looked inconsistent from TPM to AOTC.

Puppet Yoda looks better than CG Yoda, so they better not make more changes.

The only change I would like to see in the OT would be to update some scenes with better CGI to match up more with the other movies. Like the console in ANH showing the Death Star approach, which could easily be altered to have a 3D hologram like ROTJ and the PT.
Changes like that don't hurt the movies, altering voices or changing a character's appearance for no reason isn't necessary.

Thanks, jp-30, for sharing the link. I can't believe how long he's been working on it. I'll have to see if I can acquire it.

I did find the following clip. I will say that I do love that you can see Yavin in the background in more of the shots where in the original I don't think you see it at all. It does give it a different feeling like "**** **** ****, let's hurry up and destroy this thing before it kills us all."

Blah. I appreciate the effort that went into it, but a special edition is a terrible notion no matter who does it. Leave the movies alone. They're cinematic history.

Being unable to do everything and being constrained by resources and time is part of the movie.

But it needs to look up-to-date!
Can't we fix Biggs' stache? It's been out of fashion for decades.

This is the thing: fans and flanneled ones alike want the oldest films to keep looking current, so they'll still match the new batch. It's a way of continuing the suspension of disbelief. But of course it gets harder and harder. Is Star Wars now the longest-running continuous film franchise in the world? It's like they were still making sequels to Metropolis when Sergeant Pepper came out.

There's gotta be some time limit, at which point people will say, this doesn't match anymore and we can't fix it in post. And then... reboot.
