They never said it was tech in the film. It could easily have been the Force as in TFA. We know Vader could use the Force to read minds from ROTJ and it's arguably implied in TPM as well.

I feel like if the only good rebuttal is "Well in these two bad films..." there is no rebuttal.

Yes you could combine this with previous posts I've made to argue that no Star Wars related rebuttal is ever valid but shut up.

ROTJ isn't all bad. It was awesome when I was ten.

That looks like a big ball of tech to me.

I thought you meant his ability to use the Force to read minds like when he tries to hide that he has a sister.

IIRC isn't there a new version of the mind probe behind Kylo Ren during his interrogation of Poe Dameron?

It was implied in the original movie that the ball droid was performing the torture, but all we actually know about it is that it has a syringe. We know very little else about what it does, nor what the syringe contains. So you could retcon the scene so that the droid is administering some kind of drug that makes Leia more susceptible to Vader's interrogation techniques.

He'd already been mind talking to Luke at the end of Empire, so there was a connection. In ANH he was dealing with a civilian (as far as he knew) so should have attempted to probe her mind with The Force.

Except he didn't because Kylo's a Mary Sue.

TFA is on demand, so I checked. No droid, but he is in a fancy chair. However, Poe is calm and relaxed until Kylo begins his mojo. There is also nothing to suggest in ANH that anything other than the probe droid was used to interrogate Leia.

Kylo is the Mary Sue. Is it that difficult to accept?

Looks like a big ol' torture droid to me. Not Doctor Who mind probe tech.

    Same as ROTJ Vader.

A toture droid made of tech.

How was Jedi Vader a Mary Sue? That isn't a challenge, I'm curious, and suspect it is so.

Hey, I'm perfectly okay with calling Kylo Ren a Mary Sue. The fact that he could tank a bowcaster shot that literally flings stormtroopers around like rag dolls is enough to convince me of that. :p

But I could swear that right at the start of Poe's interrogation scene there is a ball droid.

Arawn doesn't argue a point, Diggy, just merely does Wockensian obfuscation like a Shaolin master.

If you have to retcon anything, it's because something stupid has come along since and instead of dealing with the inconsistency, high-on-the-spectrum basement dwellers have to make logical leaps because reasons.

You say that as if there were areas that were well planned out. Like most abortions, the prequels were a mistake.

There is. It's not moving and there is nothing to suggest it's an interrogation droid. The scen says it's all Kylo.

That'd explain the leaked script where Darth Vader turns to the camera at the end as says "See? I killed them all. Stop bugging us about potential sequels. Christ."

This complaint is pretty deeply illogical. I don't disagree that his powers are overdone, but you are applying a double standard. This guy's powers also have an explanation, it's just that the degree of his powers is out of proportion to the explanation provided. This is exactly the case with Rey's use of the Force. The complaints are literally the same: about degree, not type. You can't call one under-explained and the other well-justified.

I sincerely wonder who was expecting a sequel, when it's almost certain we know what happens to most of those poor bastards at the end of this flick. At least, part of me does hope we'll actually get a proper grimdark or otherwise kinda depressive war movie finale that leads to the title of Ep. 4.

Not true. The marketing for the Prequels was well thought out. The toys. The fast food tie ins. Spot on.

No sequel to Rogue One, but how about a prequel to Episode 7?

This is an...interesting theory, from the six minute mark.

I love and hate it. Or love that I hate it, and hope it's true.
