and Edgar Wright has my heart.

I'm ten minutes into Baby Driver, and it's clear who he wants to play young Han Solo. Ten minutes later and...yes, he's right.

Edit: and the films not bad so far, either.

George Lucas has always included homages to earlier pieces of film history in his Star Wars stories. Apparently this one is in honor of Stepin Fetchit.

It still irks me that Han took Chewie's boltcaster from him in TFA, literally taking the power right out of his hands, as if Chewie was incapable of using a weapon that was specifically designed for him, just so Han could get some more poor attempts at humorous action.

It was an opportunity to let Chewie take the spotlight, but nope, Han took it from him again. It was an opportunity to show that Chewie's weapon was just too big and heavy for Han to have any hope of wielding, requiring Chewie to step up and kick ass, but nope.

If Chewbacca is not a slave then why didn't he get a medal?

What if Chewie was offered a medal, but refused to accept it? Why can't that be an option? Maybe he figured his role in helping to destroy the Death Star was enough, and thus didn't need a gaudy, physical reminder of it.

My point is just as silly as those who've wondered why Chewie never got a medal.

    1. Han Solo is a general. Chewie never even has a rank acknowledged.

    2. Han Solo is hailed as a famous pilot. No one ever gives such accolades to Chewie, despite the latter doing a demonstrably major part of the actual piloting.

    3. Han Solo is at the center of the friend group, even without Chewie. When Han is frozen in carbonite, all the human characters make a point of ostracizing Chewie.

Not even a dog is worthy of such scorn.

It's like Wocky hasn't seen Empire Strikes Back.

No, literally, since he's completely unawares of whole scenes in that film.

Wocky you have made a statement as if it were fact and have not attached any caveats about it being "an opinion only". As such, your personal honour is entirely at stake here. You must provide proof from the films that the characters "[made] a point of ostracizing [sic] Chewie..." or you must acknowledge a lack of honour in your vile slander of these characters.

ROTJ features a "plan" with no discernible purpose beyond embarrassing and abusing Chewbacca. The key element was allowing Luke to assassinate Jabba and de-stabilize his criminal empire. Literally every other member of the rescue team was allowed to infiltrate into the facility under some positive or at least neutral pre-text. Despite his noted associations with criminals, for instance, Lando went unrecognized to a mere face shield on his helmet which he kept looking over top. Similarly, it wasn't clear that anyone even recognized Chewbacca until Leia identified him as such, and using this bounty (as opposed to any of hundreds of rivals of Jabba she might have theoretically brought in to give herself credibility) gave her no advantage or added credibility in her disguise. If anything, letting Chewbacca remained jailed and mistreated only made him less prepared for the final struggle, when they might have simply disguised him as a different Wookie criminal or bounty hunter.

The team of "heroes" thought belittling Chewbacca was more important than saving Han Solo.

    Dishonour status = confirmed.

Have you seen the films more than once?
