Welcome: Welcome back Dennis Henderson. Dennis is one of the three founders of the Tidewater Alliance, along with Jason Bruggeman, and Matt Rinck. Dennis has also been given a seat on the Council.
We also welcomed Bob Frantz. Bob is a friend of Thad’s.

Issues: There have been several issues and complaints from both the Council and the Membership over the last month concerning how the group is run.
• Meetings are too negative and never seem to move forward.
• The group is no longer fun.
• There is too much drama.
• Not enough local events.
The Council has decided that the Membership needs to be more involved. Several changes have been made and will continue to be made in order to make the group more Member orientated.

Changes: Due to the complaints several changes are being made.
• The raffle is coming back. The raffle will be conducted at least every other month. There will be a raffle at the next meeting. Please bring an item in for the raffle. It does not have to be expensive, but if it is, a minimum amount can be set. Tickets are $1.00 each or 13 for $10.00.
• Show and tell is coming back. If you have a new prop, costume, etc. that you would like to show off, please bring it to the meeting.
• Lightsaber practice will now be held for all. Anyone over the age of 18 who wants to participate is welcome.
• The TA is no longer just about costuming and collecting. We want to include everyone‘s interest. We will now focus on gaming, books, and movies as well.
• Some of the forum topics will change. Gaming, books, and movies will now be opened up to any discussion, not just Star Wars.
• Wearing costumes at TA events is no longer required. If you do not have a costume or are not interested in wearing one, you can still participate in the event, but we ask that you wear either a Star Wars T-shirt or a TA one (once they are made). We want everyone to be included. There of course will be exceptions when we are invited to events that are costumed only.
• The Council postions are now to be elected per the Force.Net rules.


Elections: The Membership made the following nominations for Council elections:

Dennis will hold a permanent Council seat.
Chris Maher will hold the next rotating position.

The Council will now work as one. Everyone is equal in the decision making process. If the Council is unable to reach an agreement on something, then they will take it to the Membership for voting. What the Membership decides at that point will be final.

Events: There are a lot of events, both local and out of state, coming up soon.

• Carolina Garrison: Light the Night Walk. September 29th in Charlotte, NC.

• Rebel Legion Terrapin Base: Zoo Boo. October 20th -21st

• Halloween Family Fun Day: October 27th at the Portsmouth Children’s Museum
• The Tidewater Alliance Annual Halloween Party: Friday, October 19th at Rick and Dawn’s at 7:30pm.

Sub Groups: We want to create new subgroups for gaming, prop building, collecting, and book club. Once implemented, each group will give a report of what they are working on at the monthly meeting.

Treasury: $108.45. We paid Peter White $300.00 for spending numerous hours making our banner.

Time Ended: 4:30 pm

Just about everyone that attended the meeting met afterwards for dinner and fellowship at Applebee’s. I do believe that this was the largest group that ever attended.
