2 More questions:

In the interest of FF and other Star Wars/Sci-Fi relations (and TFF's external reputation) what other boards on tf.n and off of tf.n do you frequent?

How much time due you think you’ll devote to being CR on a weekly basis?

How you would facilitate having a set day and time for meeting (IE.1st Saturday of every month)?

Simple, we bring it to a vote by the group.I think this would help the group out immensely as it would allow us to attract potential members and would be an easy coversation starter by simply saying "we have monthly meetings on blank day and time" . I can personally say that it is also nice to have meetings on off days but as the CR I will provide what is best for the group and not one individual which I feel is the most important task of the CR.
How would you promote Better Communication within group?
Over the past few months life has intervened for many of us. I think we need to spend more time together doing non event type things as I have personally seen the closeness of the RPG group. We used to hang out all the time and go to dinner together. It would help us out immensely to become more close knit but still allow room for newcomers. Also keeping up to date phone lists will also help in this matter.

What ideas would you foster for having external FF get togethers that don’t relate to charity functions (just having fun)?

We have already gotten the ball rolling for this and now we need to carry it through. . The term "Two Suns Fanforce" does not mean we are solely a charity group although that has seemed to be our main focus. I feel it has turned away some newcomers and scares off some potential members. We as a group can only go so far with costuming as our number one focus. We need to do things taht are in public that make people feel welcome like RPGs in a public place or a trading/collecting day at a comic shop or the new and upcoming "book club" at a library. I also feel that we as a group should also consider doing a charity function without the costumes. Dont shoot me but it would show that we can still provide without the "bling"
How would you promote the group to other groups in the area (IE. other FF, Rebel legion, 501st, other collector or other sci-fi groups)? Continuing on that idea, would you go about getting new members?
I personally am on quite a few of the busiest message boards and have invited quite a few people to come check us out. I would also like to see us all have a banner promoting our group that can be displayed at the bottom of our posts instead of just a link to the TFF website like most of us have.Advertsising both free and at cost is a very effective way of getting people to recognize us as well. We have talked about getting a screen at a theater and passing out flyers. This only works if we as agroup do it together. Coming from a marketing background I can tell you that the design and colors used will also help our efforts.
We have also talked about bumper stickers which a few weeks back I looked into. The nice ones are expensive but are eye catchy.
I think in conjunction with the DSG we need to set up a table at the Cactus con and other local events where other people with similair interests can find us. Putting up laminated flyers in video game, movie and comic stores will also help.

How would you promote our public image and get our group more noticed in the community?

Personally image is a big thing in representing a group making sure you are prepared for anything. Making sure you yourself are presentable. Having a set "speech" for media events so we do not get tongue tied in front of the camera as well. We can also to reattempt to get onto radio and television by inviting the media to join us or getting on public access more often.

What are you goals and hopes for the next year of the FF? What you like to see changed? How would it benefit the group?

Quite simply my buggest goal is to grow the TFF. I would like to see us double in size by this time next year. I loved when we had 25 people show up for a meeting! As a group we can benefit from the additional members by possibly getting more talent connections or the ability to do more financially. Growing also allows us to reach our arnms out even further and possibly reach those who may have never heard of us. Much like a bad reputation a good reputation spreads one to two people times five.

What events or functions are you more interested in?

The ones we have not had yet. By this I mean I would like to grow the yearly events we have and our gatherings like RPG and book club. I am intersted in the things we have not done yet. Of course I am a member of the 501st but I hold true to my Fanforce roots. It is not just about costuming, it is about growing and reachig out to people who share our passion for Star Wars.

How would you handle the funding issues within the group?

From what I have seen when there is a need we fill it. I do not believe we are in need of a treasurer at this time. There are certian members who wish to keep their costs for their passion private. We have asked the group for donations for banners and such and we have accomplished much without one. If it is that important or becomes an issue in the future we can bring up the issue again. I understand that are people who mreap more than they sow but that is their choice to be in the Fanforce which has no membership dues to be inviting to all people.

What if any changes would you like to see made to the charter?

I would like the charter to protect us from those who may bring harm to the group and possibly bring up the requirements for membership. It is not solely up to me what should be changed and such matters should be discussed in a meeting and voted on by the group for the group.

This may seem silly but what threads would you make sticky and what would you unstuck?

I would like to have an events past thread made as a sticky. I know we have them on the website but it would be great for advertisement on theforce.net. We already have had problems with too many stickies and it has been cleaned up and looks nice.

How would you approach the changes that need to be made on the boards (IE. scrolling meeting times, website addy in out southwest listing) and updates?

Unfortunately I will have no control over the RSAs reaction time but I would most definately a festering wound. LOL. I am regularly on the boards as I am able to log in almost twice every day. It is also important that the CR reads every new post to make sure that everything is current and there is no arguing and for content.

As for Jacks question.....

Over the past year, there seemed to be an undercurrent of dissention, anger, hostility, divisiveness, call it what you will, that I feel hurt the group. Do you think this is a situation that can be resolved by anyone's election to the CR office? If so, how would your victory help the situation?

Well in all honesty Jack the first answer is NO. It will neverly be completely resolved as we all have different ideas and opinions. The role of the CR is to do what is best for the group regardless of personal opinion. It is also important to hold to the legal and moral issues of the group to protect it as a whole.
Now having said that I believe that the outspoken side of it can be demolished. It is very unproffesional and can and will hurt our group and possibly has. As the CR it would be my position to run the meetings which with the help of everyone can be run more smoothly with one person speaking and discussions to be held after they are done speaking. It is also important to get everyones feedback and vote as a group without fear of upsetting someone or someones which we can also do in private.
I will work to abolish anything that may come up with any arguments are hostility. With the help of everyone we can do this as a group and which speaking often with everyone in private I can help dissolve and prolonging issues.

I wlaked into this group thinking "Oh what a bunch of nerds having meeting about Star Wars" BUT being a fan myslef I had to see what it was all about. I found myself amongst some of the most welcoming and caring people I have ever met. You guys are my family and I will do the best to my abilities to provide for the group and carry us into the future.

I will admit that at this time I only frequent our boards, the phoenix boards and the collecting boards on theforce.net
This of course is in the process of changing!

Outside boards include.......
Thedenetdhelmet
duneseagarrison
501stlegion
clonetroopers.net
flagshipeclipse
grandarmyoftherepublic (GAR)
myspace
alteregos
Thereplicapropsforum (RPF)
Phoenixsquadron
sonosofthesuns

and my newest edition which I was hoping to bring up to some of you..........

The west coast costuming group (WCC)

How much time due you think you’ll devote to being CR on a weekly basis?
Well as currently the interum I am spending about 2 hours a day online and about 2 hours a week on the phone. I also have weekdays off to set up meetings for events and media.

I would say on an average week I spend close to 20 hours whether it be online, meeting or events which is a part time job in itself!

I am not including the promoting I do at work or stopping by to see potential members or other recruiting oppurtunities which usually occurs at work.

I work in the mall and part of my duties is to conversate with people believe it or not. The owner likes me to know all our regulars and I bring up the boards and show off pictures frequently.

Well, unfortunately, TF.N's siggys are only allowed text, no pics or code. At least that I have figured out how to do. Nonetheless, here are a couple images I whipped up that hopefully don't break any copyright laws.

Here is my first one

and a second one for you anti-PT types

Please note this has NOTHING to do with the past CR.

Expectations/Improvements/Changes: (I do understand these are absurd qualifications, we are all human with lives and responsibilities outside the TFF)

Ability to be completely definitive, unbiased, and open-minded in making decisions that are best for the group or it's immediate goal and not any or one person or idea.

Problem solver. intermediary. Someone willing to do what must be done regarding internal and external disputes.

Straight clear communication with the group (gets right to the point, regardless of hurt feelings, as to not foster any misunderstanding). Ability to pass on information accurately and clearly.

Regardless of personal view, willing to do what the group wants as a whole even if it's not what the CR wants.

Ability to be the definitive voice of the TFF to the public and other organizations.

Someone that can see ahead past their term to the future.

Leadership ability with a stern voice and unwavering dedication. Roll model and Inspiration the group to be their best.

Willing have fun with the position and not make it a stress. Someone that understands this is a voluntary group and it's for fun and charity, not personal gain, ego trip, or accolades.

MY MOST IMPORTANT trait I'd like to see: Selflessness.

Edit: for spelling

I also personally believethis is a key to a good CR, and leader as whole. After all if the members aren/t happy, the fan force doesn't thrive. I think it is doing well, but has yet to reach the thriving status of some other fan forces.

Problem solver. intermediary. Someone willing to do what must be done regarding internal and external disputes.

I do this everyday at work. I problem solve and preserve the peace more than arrest people for an offense. I beleive I have the qualififcatins necessary to listen to both sides unbiased, weight the comments, evidence, and make suggestions or decions that would benefit everyone.

Straight clear communication with the group (gets right to the point, regardless of hurt feelings, as to not foster any misunderstanding). Ability to pass on information accurately and clearly.

Even though I would happily mediate, I also feel the position of the CR is to make decisions for the benefit of the group, even though it may, and probably will, not please everyone. You can't pleasd 100% of the people 100% of the time, but beleive me any decisions made will have the best interests of the fan force at heart, and would never do anyhting personally to alienate anyone.

Regardless of personal view, willing to do what the group wants as a whole even if it's not what the CR wants.

the majority rules! I dont have to agree, but honor the vote and opinion, and definetly do nto want to lose the faith of the group by doing something I know its opposed to.

Ability to be the definitive voice of the TFF to the public and other organizations.

I enjoy public speaking, and speak to schools, neighborhood associations, parent groups, even girl scout troops, so I have no problem in this area.

Someone that can see ahead past their term to the future.

This is my initiative, to make the fan force large enough and strong enough to live on past any of the current members.

Leadership ability with a stern voice and unwavering dedication. Roll model and Inspiration the group to be their best.

Besides family and work, the fan force would be one of my primary focuses. I already strive to be the best role model possible, for my children, my family, and relations. I speak to these community groups and vounteer for neighborhood watch and associatin meetings, to try and be that role model. I have also put in applications to becomse a School Resource officer, to hopefully become one to more kids.

In college I was also the president of the criminal justice club, organizing fund raisers, and trips, one of which included one to Disney World for the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences annual meeting.

I am also the Vice Presdent of our Non-Profit the Arizona Pku and Allied Disorders Network which help bring together families into a close knit community. This does not require alot of my time however sice Michele maintains the websight and much of the commuication.

Willing have fun with the position and not make it a stress. Someone that understands this is a voluntary group and it's for fun and charity, not personal gain, ego trip, or accolades.

Fun is one of my goals in the group as well. I think begin CR will be fun,and should be fun. I beleive I can handle stress effectively, (Ive been shot at), and wouldn't consider this a position of powers. it is a voluntary clb after all! If members arent having fun, I doint see how we would retain them , or obtain new ones.
