Return of the Jedi: The Lost Scenes
Title: An Old Friend
Author: GrandAdmiral_Frank
Characters: Luke, Yoda, Qui-Gon, Artoo
Timeframe: ROTJ
Genre: Sci-fi/Fantasy
Summary: Luke Skywalker visits Dagobah to see an old friend.
Dagobah, it was a world that did not exist in the galaxy. It was a world in the physical sense and it was teeming with life and the Force. However as far as being apart of the comings and goings of beings in the galaxy it was a remote planet that was unpopulated save for one. One creature, a being as rare to the galaxy as the planet he chose to spend his self-served exile on. His name was Yoda.
At one time he was the Grand Master of the Jedi Order. An order of knights dedicated to keeping peace and justice in the galaxy. He was the most powerful Jedi of his time. Yet when the darkness rose and engulfed the Galactic Republic the Jedi Order served and protected he had failed. He chose exile on this world.
For a little over two decades he remained secluded from the galaxy. Meditating, learning more gateways into the Force, patiently waiting for the day that the offspring of Skywalker would arrive. Then one day the descendant of Skywalker did arrive and he was not what Yoda considered to be the hope of the galaxy. All Yoda saw was the boy's father who had become the ultimate evil in the galaxy. Yet Yoda trained the boy and determined after a time that the boy was gifted and he did have the potential to save the galaxy despite the impatience that measured out the same.
One day the boy had a vision of his friends suffering and ultimately dying. Fearing for the safety he left his training and was inevitably walking into a trap laid out by the Dark Lord. Yoda had not heard from the boy since but something told him that the Dark Lord did not succeed...
Too old for this am I
, thought Yoda as he took his morning walk through the swamps of Dagobah. All around creatures let out cries, croaks, and yelps. The aging Jedi Master leaned on his gimer stick as he slowly trudged on. Yoda had been thinking a lot of Luke these past few weeks. He had been certain that the boy was being put to the test in ways Yoda could have prepared him better for. Yoda had feared for the boy. Yoda wondered if he had failed yet again.
The power of the darkside had a powerful draw and it was a potential destiny for the son of Skywalker to have. Something told Yoda that Luke had not been killed nor had he turned to the darkside. Hard to see the future was. Yoda did what he could and had little time. He was dying and he wished only that he did the right thing.
He sighed and looked up at the trees. When he had first come here he used to Force jump all the way to the canopy of the treetops and see the sun of Dagobah. It truly was a beautiful sight. Yoda wished he could see it again.
"Anything is possible with the Force", said a voice behind Yoda. Unstartled Yoda turned around to see the Force-ghost of Qui-Gon Jinn.
"Master Qui-Gon, more to say have you?", asked Yoda.
"You worry if you have been a failure", stated Qui-Gon crossing his arms.
"Worry I do if failed the boy I have", replied Yoda finding the nearest rock and sitting down.
"You taught the boy well. What happened from the moment he left was his choice. He took matters into his own hands and he will see if he did right or wrong. All of us must learn", said Qui-Gon.
"Know this I do. Perhaps worried only because I did not see the boy again", said Yoda.
"Time will tell. I agree with your instincts. I think the boy made it", said Qui-Gon.
"Sorry to interrupt but the boy is here", said Obi-Wan Kenobi appearing through a tree trunk.
"Back to the hut I will go. Good-bye Master Jinn, good-bye Master Kenobi", said Yoda.
"Remember Yoda. Life does not end with death. Become one with the living Force", said Qui-Gon.
***
Yoda arrived in time to see Luke assisting Artoo out of the Incom T-65A X-Wing with the Force. He seemed to be so natural at the movements now. The boy had been practicing.
"Back to Dagobah you come. See Yoda", said Yoda.
"Master Yoda!", said Luke finishing the 'landing' of his astromech droid Artoo-Detoo.
"A long time it has been. Increased your skills you have", said Yoda noticing by Luke's presence in the Force.
"Your training made my skills", said Luke taking off his gloves as Artoo rolled behind him tweetling.
"Modest are you. Changed are you after confronting Vader", said Yoda.
"I didn't", said Luke instantly putting his head down. Yoda could tell that something was really bothering Luke and he could see that painful memories were brought up. Yoda was not sure if he should ask if Luke found out about Darth Vader. Yoda could also see that Luke was physically changed from the duel with Vader, the boy had an artifical hand now.
"Inside my hut we will go", said Yoda pointing with his gimer stick.
With that the two Jedi headed towards Yoda's abode while Artoo decided to make systems checks on the X-Wing.

Return of the Jedi: The Lost Scenes
Title: We Shall Double Our Efforts
Author: GrandAdmiral_Frank
Characters: Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Moff Jerjerrod
Timeframe: ROTJ
Genre: Sci-fi/Fantasy
Summary: Emperor Palpatine inspects the construction of the second Death Star
It was cold in the space around the second Death Star as it hung in orbit over the forest moon of Endor. However inside the perfected battle station the temperatures were kept at a reasonable condition for the humans aboard it. One could not actually say the battle station itself was perfected since it was still under construction however its concept was perfected as opposed to its predecessor. In charge of its completion was Imperial Moff Jerjerrod who, despite the reasonable climate aboard the battle station, could not help but sweat.
The Emperor of the Galactic Empire was aboard the station now and had begun a general inspection. Moff Jerjerrod could not help but feel nervous at every waking moment, even in his personal quarters. He was also angered by the Emperor's attitude towards him.
How could I be angry? The Emperor is the ruler of the galaxy. I should bow before him and plead for a merciful death...maybe in another galaxy
, thought Jerjerrod sarcastically. Despite Lord Vader informing him that the Emperor was "most displeased with his apparent lack of progress", Jerjerrod still felt he was competent enough for the job. Afterall he had successfully ensured that the superlaser and combat systems on the Death Star were fully functional.
Aside from that fact the Empire had seen this Death Star nearly completed since the three years its construction began, a feat in itself since the first Death Star took nearly two decades to construct. Jerjerrod let out a sigh as he strode along a line of computer stations with technicians manning them. He was on a level in the Death Star that was responsible for monitoring temperatures inside the core shaft of the Death Star. Behind him the wall that would seal off the room itself from the actual shaft was halfway built which meant on the other side one could look down and see the rest of the shaft going down. Technicians were instructed to stay behind a red line that had been laid down on the floor as a safety precaution so that no one would be too close to falling perilously to their death.
"What is the working capacity of these systems?", Jerjerrod asked the senior technician in the room who had been following him. His name was...Jerjerrod looked at the name insignia and read Kev Lobe.
"The systems are fully functional however in order to fully monitor the core shaft temperatures we will need that wall built because the systems are also monitoring the atmospheric conditions in this room since they are still sharing the same atmosphere", replied Kev who was fidgeting with his datapad.
"Where is the construction unit on this level?", asked Jerjerrod.
"At this moment they have moved into the other rooms on this level to check the bolts on the chairs", replied Kev.
Jerjerrod was about to say something when the doors from the turbolift hissed open revealing Darth Vader who was flanked by two stormtroopers and behind him came Emperor Palpatine flanked by two Royal Guards. Inside Jerjerrod could feel his stomach drop and suddenly he felt he had to use the bathroom. Darth Vader and his stormtroopers were on a set course walking towards Jerjerrod as the Emperor went off on his own little tour of the room.
"The Emperor is examining the progress on this level. You would do well to not disappoint him", said Darth Vader pointing a finger at Jerjerrod. At this moment Jerjerrod felt like all the fingers in the galaxy were pointing at him and blaming him for everything. However he was a soldier and he held himself in a solid matter.
"The Emperor should not be disappointed. As you will soon find out this level is nearly complete", countered Jerjerrod. For some reason it felt like what he said had no match to Vader's warning.
"I see that this level like the station itself is almost completed. Is there any area that I may find satisfaction in?", asked Emperor Palpatine from one of the computer stations. He stared at Jerjerrod with those horrible red and yellow eyes. His tone of voice held contempt and it was as if a demon had fused with a human's body.
"There are levels that are complete. Our hangar bays are fully accomadating. The superlaser and the combat-"
"Spare me what you consider to be accomplishments. It is the only defense that you have and quite frankly it is becoming redundant. I see that I will have to motivate the staff on this level. The temperatures of the core shaft are an important function to oversee are they not?", asked Palpatine who held a crooked finger at Jerjerrod.
"Yes", answered Jerjerrod.
"Then I shall speak with the person in charge of this level even though it is
you
in essence", said Palpatine who suddenly had a devious smile that Jerjerrod almost cringed at seeing.
At this moment Kev Lobe tucked his datapad under his arm and walked over to the Emperor. The situation was already tense and it did not help that Kev could hardly stare at the Emperor. Palpatine said nothing however his eyes showed that he despised the being in front of him. It seemed to Jerjerrod that a handful of seconds passed in which Palpatine was crafting some twisted idea in his mind. Jerjerrod's suspicions were confirmed when Palpatine spoke.
"Lord Vader, release him", said Palpatine.
At the moment Vader who had been standing with Jerjerrod strode over to Kev Lobe at a brisk pace. Kev Lobe dropped his datapad with his lips trembling and tried to say something however the words never came. Jerjerrod noticed that Kev had also just soiled himself. This meant nothing as Vader grabbed the senior technician and lifted him high in the air. The room was filled with the cries of Kev as Vader started to walk with Kev above his head. All of the other technicians could not look as their co-worker and boss was being tortured.
"WATCH IT!", shouted Palpatine in a gutteral voice with his flaring eyes wide and insane.
Vader took Kev Lobe over past the red line that the technicians were required to avoid and hurled the screaming man down the shaft. A few of the technicians had tears in their eyes and all were shivering as the high pitched scream of death became fainter marking Kev Lobe's fatal plummet down the shaft. Since the shaft was so massive they could not hear the body impact but that was not necessary for the fear factor that Palpatine had just instilled in the technicians.
Jerjerrod was sick inside. Kev Lobe had done his job in a most effecient matter. If anything the construction crew should have been punished and even they did not deserve it because everyone was working hard in Jerjerrod's opinion. This was no way to run a battle station yet Jerjerrod could not protest for fear of a similar fate or worse. Vader's mechanical and now chilling breathing was the only sound in the room. Palpatine wore a smile on his face revealing yellow teeth.
"A fitting death for someone who thought he had control", remarked Palpatine with a cackling laugh.
Jerjerrod closed his eyes for a second in some hope of going somewhere else.
No, that is not the option. You are a soldier. You come from a history of a proud line. This will all be over and once this station is completed you can return to Tinnel IV
. At least he had hoped that the Empire would allow him to do so.
With the incident over Palpatine and Vader and their entourage left the room. The technicians all went back to work but it was clear that fear was what made up the atmoshpere. Jerjerrod wanted to say something to the men but it was useless, Palpatine's point was what was intended to stay ingrained in their minds. He exhaled a heavy sigh and went back to his duties.

Author: GrandAdmiral_Frank
Characters: Davin Felth (Zeta Squadron Sandtrooper)
Timeframe: A New Hope
Genre: Sci-fi/Fantasy
Summary: Zeta Squadron has been dispatched to recover the missing droids of the Tantive IV raid. The following are excerpts from the private journal of Davin Felth. The complete writings can be found in the Imperial Archives on Bastion.
Davin Felth Private Journal
...We've been dispatched by Lord Vader to recover an escape pod that jettisoned from the Tantive IV raid. None of us, aside from the superior officers, know exactly what is so important about an escape pod but if that's what they want than it's our job to get it. I'm new here in the Desert Sands sandtrooper detachment and already I wish I was back at Carida. I had it all, I knew I was going to move up and then Veers had me sent here. I thought he'd want to keep me seeing as how I found the design flaw in the AT-AT. I guess the safety of troops is less important than ascending yourself up in the ranks. I can't lie when I say that Captain Mod Terrik really whipped me into shape and it's been easier now that the men have accepted me.
Our
Sentinel
-class shuttle departed from the
Devastator
and Desert Sands was split into Alvien, Drax, and Zeta Squadrons. I'm in Zeta Squadron...
...Today I thought I found the escape pod but it was merely a boulder. The sands of this rock of a world are mind-numbing. I think there is some magical essence in it that can take a man's soul. Tatooine is a desolate place and why anyone would chose to live here is absurd. Thank Captain Terrik for getting me in shape. On that note, for some reason Captain Terrik seems worse on this mission than any other time I had trained under him. I even went as far as to ask him why so much force was being put out for an escape pod and he lost it. I suppose I should just shut up about it and keep marching forward for the glory of the Empire. Afterall we are nothing more than a number. Mine is 1023 by the way...
...I thought the day would end without success yet I had seen something shine even in the bright and golden dunes. Running over to it I found the escape pod. Further examination turned up droid tracks and a ringlike piece that could only belong to an astromech droid. I thought the escape pod was it but I knew that Captain Terrik would have us go after the droids too. Sure enough now we are looking for the droids. I think that if the desert doesn't take 'em then some scavengers will...
...Last night was surprisingly cold. This planet sure has its way no doubts there. The droid tracks led us to a group of traders called Jawas. Captain Terrik discerned from them that the droids had been sold to moisture farmers. Of course Captain Terrik, even moodier with this heat, ordered that we search the sandcrawler the Jawas used for transport. I myself searched the droid repair bay and found nothing. I have to admit that I found the Jawas fascinating with their glowing eyes and quick chirplike speech. The search turned up nothing and then Captain Terrik got us all together and ordered that the Jawas be slaughtered. All the men were excited. Excited! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. What had these creatures done to anyone? Of course that didn't matter. All these kriffing trigger happy boys were excited to finally use their blaster rifles. I took no part in it and I could not watch. Captain Terrik even spoke that humans were the superior beings in the galaxy and that these creatures were interferring with the Empire's efforts in maintaining peace in the galaxy. What peace? The jawas told us the truth! Terrik was just another human supremecist in the Empire. He had Zeta Squadron set it up to look like Tusken Raiders had done it. I had heard of them before. They were said to be ruthless. Another injustice done in that fact to those people who were going to be blamed for it. I'm starting wonder how much of this actually is going on in the galaxy right now. No wonder there was a Rebel Alliance...
...The moisture farmers were located. I'm still shaken up by what happened to the Jawas. Again Terrik ordered us to search the place. I was trying not to draw too much attention to myself. I just wanted to be alone. I noticed everyone else wasn't even bothering trying to search. They were just knocking everything over and smashing it to the floor. Was it to make them feel tough? I don't know. Terrik had the two farmers who were an older couple taken outside and placed on their knees as the place was searched. Captain Terrik found out from the farmers that their nephew had taken the droids. Terrik deduced that the boy was going to the nearest spaceport city Mos Eisley to smuggle them off planet. He told them that they were going to be arrested for aiding the Rebel Alliance. The male farmer named Lars spit in Terriks face and that's when Terrik called Lord Vader. I don't know why but when Terrik informed Lord Vader of the couples 'crimes' Vader seemed as nothing but pure evil and he ordered their execution. The couple was shot and the farm was destroyed...
...We've been at Mos Eisley now reading records of all pilots in the docking bay files. Roadblocks have been set up and many people have been questioned with no luck. We even started searching door to door. Everyone is on alert. I had tried to forget the Jawa slaughter when one of them came out of nowhere and tried to shoot at another sandtrooper. My guess is that the creature must have had family at the sandcrawler. The DL-44 it carried must have been deffective because nothing happened. Of course the other sandtrooper had no problems laying the Jawa to waste. Again I am reminded that this Empire I serve must be evil...
...The droids were found today. We hightailed it to docking bay 94 to find a beat up Corellian YT-1300 heavy stock freighter. The man we saw was Han Solo. He had just shot a Rodian at a cantina we had investigated. Someone even had reported seeing a lightsaber which got Terrik all worked up.
Something happened that moment when I watched Solo standing up to all of us. He was one man. We were a squadron yet he still fired away. This one man who stood up to us. All we had done was attack innocent people for no reason. This one man who had more courage than I had ever seen in my life. I wanted to be him. I wanted to be right next to him firing at my own comrades. I noticed that as he turned Captain Terrik was about to get a shot on him. I raised my rifle and squeezed the trigger. The shot came as the last of Solo's shots came so when it hit Terrik everyone thought that Solo got him. I watched as Terrik hit the ground and I felt liberated. My first kill as an Imperial foot soldier and it was an Imperial I had killed. The other men were devastated to lose their leader. Yet I silently rejoiced.
I decided that I would help the Alliance that day. I would be a spy and continue to work on Tatooine delivering information whenever I could. No more meaningless slaughters. No more injustices. No more Empire. We had come to Tatooine and destroyed so many homes. Ironic because now I had a new home. I was no longer an Imperial. I was a member of the Rebel Alliance and that was where home would be to me...

so far your still the only one posting stories, but keep posting anyway, even without the rest of us. Eventually we will surprise you and post a story, it is bound to happen.
In the mean time I thoroughly enjoy reading your stories.

RE: The Official TFF Fanfiction Thread
Thank you. I will have a rough time these next two months because I am going to adjust to two jobs, play catch up with bills, try to manage some silly ass charade of a Christmas and try to crank out some fics. I have one I did for the PT rewrite, one coming up for the Han and Chewie Fan Club and one I know I want to write for this months topic. I could not go to the Halloween event and Comic-Con seems parsecs away in reality. However I intend to do everything in my power to make it to the book club.

RE: The Official TFF Fanfiction Thread
The month of November proved to be a month of inactivity. I myself picked up a second job I was adjusting to and also trying to catch up with the Bookclub. I also had the craziest Thanksgiving in a while. I worked virtually all day at Boston Market, their busiest day. Then at night I worked at Walmart in preparation for their busiest day, the day after Thanksgiving sale. Now comes another busy month however I will try again. The topic this month will be "A Star Wars Holiday Story". That's right, anything you want to do with our beloved characters in the Holiday sense. So here we go.
Title: A Wampa's Christmas Tale
Author: GrandAdmiral_Frank
Genre: Comedy
Characters: Luke Skywalker, Wampa, Tantaun
Timeframe: TESB
Summary: The unexplained bckstory of the Wampa Ice Cave sequence.
Wampy the Wampa lived on a barren ice-world called Hoth. He could have preferred a more colorful name himself but what did he expect? He lived on what was literally a giant snow ball. Were it not for gravitational forces holding the planet in its spin he would wonder when the ice world would crash into a space cruiser with that hottie Leonardo DiCaprio on it.
He was on a walk right now ready to begin his traditional customs that all Wampa's had this time of year on Hoth. They would build large snow creatures sculpted of ice and/or snow. The more articulate Wampa's usually went for the ice sculpting. He was a simple Wampa so he would usually build a snow creature. Right now he was feeling tired and quite hung over. Afterall drinking yourself into a stupor as you realized you were the only person who lived in an ice cave your whole life would lead into that. Other Wampa's had families and lived in somewhat of a territory were they would have some contact with each other though it was minimal. Wampy was all on his own.
Oh God
, thought Wampy as he trudged along holding his massive hand to his forehead. He could see the mountains spinning right now and fell over in dissiness. Suddenly it dawned on Wampy that he could still stick to his traditions and not have to get up right away. Using the oldest trick in the book he decided to use his arms and legs to move in a scissor-like motion making a Snow Angel. He giggled to himself as he did it.
***
The Wampa had passed out in the Snow Angel he had created and how he woke up feeling hungry. Wampy staggered up to his full height and let out a belch. Smacking his lips he looked around for food. How silly was he? He was in the middle of a snow plain and there wasn't food for miles. Maybe he should invest in an In 'n' Out Burger out here...
A noise! He could hear what sounded like a Tantaun. Oh how delicious! Wampy started to run and tripped on himself rolling down a hill. By the time he hit the bottom he was nearly covered in snow. He was about to get up when he saw the Tantaun running across the plain and come to a halt. It looked the Tantaun had something on its back. Wampy's vision was still coming into focus so he assumed it could be a young of the Tantaun. No time to waste. At this rate he would starve to death and he had already spent all his money on his self indulgent drinking so it wasn't like he could order take out.
Slowly and steadily and almost falling over again the Wampa made his way to a tasty meal...
***
The Tantaun let out a breath in exhaustion. These humans got heavy after a while and they did the stupidest things the Tantaun could possibly imagine. Take this one for example. He was insisting on staying out here in the freezing cold so they investigate a meterorite. The last time the Tantaun checked these guys were Rebels or whatever they called themselves. Weren't they supposed to be getting ready to take on the so-called Empire? Instead they wanted to parade around looking for meterorites and building things for their base. Idiots!
The Tantaun just wanted to be back in the base where it was warm and he got pampered. It was just a meterorite! Suddenly the Tantaun got a whiff of something really strong in his nostrils.
Good God! Is this Skywalker guy drinking?
, he thought to himself. It smelled strongly of some sort of whisky and he could detect small hints of Coca-Cola.
Jesus, did this guy just find out Darth Vader was his father or something? Shesh! Wait a minute, that reeking fur! That's no human, that's a Wampa!
The Tantaun became uneasy and started moving around and even crying out trying to get the human to understand it was time to go.
***
Oh God, he's blowing my cover, it's now or never!
, thought the Wampa as he came closer and closer. Not willing to waste any more time the Wampa appeared out of nowhere and attacked the Tantaun and its youngling.
Piece of cake, mmm, that sounds good too
, thought Wampy as he drug his food back to the ice cave.
***
The ice cave was a mess. Bones were everywhere because Wampy was going through a period of depression in his life. He stuck the youngling into the icy ceiling to let it hang. Hopefully it would die before he ate it, he wasn't really in the mood to make a killing like that. He observed more closely now that his vision was steadily getting better and realized that this one of those humans that had begun living on the planet. He would keep this one here because it might be possible that this human could be of use to him.
Wampy took the Tantaun to the back room and began to eat his bounty.
***
A belch and most of the Tantaun gone and Wampy was filled. This was just what he needed. Maybe that human would want some too. In fact Wampy went over to his calendar and checked the dates. Wow today was actually a national holiday for Wampas called Christmas. It was not like he wanted to be alone for the holidays and maybe this human could pick off of the Tantaun. He let out a roar which in language told the human he was coming back there to let him go.
As he made his way to the human he saw the he had impossibly pulled out a device from the snow to free himself. He let out a growl because he did not understand why this human would not want to spend Christmas with him. Weren't the humans supposed to be all civilized?
Wampy made his way over to the human despite the blue glow stick he was holding. It did worry Wampy though because it had freed the human. Before Wampy even knew what was happening his arm was on the floor and he could feel nothing but the after shock of pain.
"OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH MMMMMMMYYYYYYYYYYYY GGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD, ARE YOU FREAKING CRAZY!", the Wampa roared.
The human made his way out of the cave and the Wampa was left alone again with one arm and if he remembered only one small shooter in the fridge. So much for the Holidays. Wampy picked up his arm and a tear dropped down to freeze before it hit the snow. Just then he picked up a scent and turned to see that another Wampa had let himself in through the back door.
It was his cousin Frosty.
"Hey what happened in here? Jesus, you lost your arm Wampy! I've been trying to call for weeks. I just found a two bedroom cave and I need a roommate and I remembered you were a pretty steady Wampa. What you say?", asked Frosty.
"I would love to, I'm not useless now that I have one arm though am I?", asked Wampy.
"No Way, chicks dig the battle wounds. I don't know any Wampa that is challenged to the point of losing his arm. C'mon let's begin Christmas in a new cave", said Frosty.

RE: The Official TFF Fanfiction Thread
As host of this thread I should be keeping it going and I regret to admit that I neglected a topic to write about for this January. Seeing as how there is no topic feel free to simply post a story about Star Wars. I gurantee that February will have one.

RE: The Official TFF Fanfiction Thread
Thanks. So guess what toys they have triple of at Walmart? Ahsoka and Breha. All I can say is seriously?
I want to write but I've been thrown off track by this being even more responsible biz. I think I'm feelin' Qui-Gon right now.

RE: The Official TFF Fanfiction Thread
Dark Past
Author: GrandAdmiral_Frank
Genre: Sci-fi/Fantasy
Characters: Qui-Gon Jinn, Xanatos
Summary: Qui-Gon is a light in a Jedi Order that it is doomed in his age and yet as a light he himself has a dark memory.
The battle of Telos. The conclusion of a Civil War. The dawn of a corrupt age on a planet once flourishing. A murdered tyrant at his feet. His Padawan, his prodigy, falling so far into the dark, the burning ring, the half circle scar...
Qui-Gon woke up in a cold sweat to see the darkness of his quarters at the Jedi Temple. The ironic part of his environment was that its darkness could not compare to the darkness now flowing in his former Padawan.
He failed him.
Qui-Gon Jinn failed.
Could he still consider himself a Jedi Master?
He shook his head and wiped the sweat from his forehead and ended up wiping his now drenched hand on his sheets. Qui-Gon had had little sleep since his last mission to Telos, he strangely felt alert despite that fact. He sat up and threw off his sheets to stand up and put on his tunic. Once this was done he made his bed and left his quarters to stroll the corridors of the Jedi Temple. Normally he would have found a fellow peer awake and strike up a conversation or perhaps train against a remote probe with his lightsaber. This search was for some sort of peace and a place to feel alone even though his own quarters could provide those two things.
Whispers of the events that occured on Telos had circulated throughout the Temple yet none had confronted Qui-Gon or tried to offer some solice for his pain and grief. Qui-Gon did not need that and his quite glad that no one had done so. He had of course detailed the events to the Jedi Council upon returning to the Temple however the Council had left it at that. When he had stood before them Qui-Gon could sense many of the Masters wishing to extand a helping hand to him but they knew that he was dealing with something terrible that only a few Masters could say that had gone through. He had lost his Padawan to the darkside and it hurt.
Qui-Gon found a window and watched the streams of Coruscant's sky traffic. Sentient beings with errands and agendas all going their own ways. Xanatos had gone his own way now. Qui-Gon thought he had been prepared to kill the boy but could not find it him to do the act. Xanatos laughed in his face and escaped. Qui-Gon knew that that was the last time he would see him for a while. He knew that one day their paths would cross and when that day came Qui-Gon was not sure that he would be prepared. On the other hand could anyone really be prepared for anything? His training had prompted that mentality but his training could not seem to cure the sense of loss he felt. It was a loss of confidence, of clarity, of the Force.
All his life he had devoted himself to the living Force and could not ask for a better way to be a Jedi. Many disagreed with his outlook and thought that meditation and planning were required to move. Qui-Gon agreed that one should not simply be blind to what was going on around them but it was certainly a skill to be able to adapt and innovate. He had taught this to Xanatos. He had taught much to Xanatos. He was sure that his Padawan had the makings of a Jedi worthy of legend in the archives. He was sure that Xanatos would prove all of those at the Temple wrong about how he was simply trouble.
Should he have been more strict? Should he have expected that Xanatos would give into temptation so easy coming from a different background than the other students where he knew what he could have?
The duel had been intense. Qui-Gon watched his Padawan fight with such aggressiveness. Xanatos was always intense and had always pushed the limits of what a Padawan should be in both a positive and a negative way and in that duel there were times when Qui-Gon wondered if the boy would kill him. Qui-Gon however held his own and had resorted to the Jedi way of defense and that had been Xanatos' undoing who had fought with such anger and malice. He could have done it, he could have ended it all right there with a swift killing blow but Qui-Gon could not kill someone who had been like a son to him.
The Council would probably have preferred that Qui-Gon neutralize a potential threat to the Order. Afterall Jedi were gited and used their abilities for good. Those who abused their power and lived life in greed and betrayal were what the Jedi had vowed to eradicate. Qui-Gon had thoughts of seeking out Xanatos and attempting to win him back over to the light. A hopeful yet futile notion. Xanatos had disappeared and with all of the money he had stolen from Telos he was more than equipped to do so.
Suddenly a burning bright presence in the Force appeared in Qui-Gon's senses and he knew instantaneously who it was. Turning around in a grim greeting of acknowledgement Qui-Gon saw the Grand Master of the Jedi Order Yoda. The short green skinned looked at Qui-Gon with open and searching eyes.
"Wide awake are you for one who slept little yes?", inquired Yoda.
"One might say so", replied Qui-Gon not sure he could use some company at this moment.
"Lonely is Yoda, awake with no one to talk to, walk with him would you?", asked Yoda with innocent and pleading eyes.
Qui-Gon saw the tactic and wanted to shout at him to give him some space. However Qui-Gon knew that the Master only wanted to help.
"I suppose that could be arranged", said Qui-Gon joining Yoda at his side. Together the two began a walk that led in no particular direction. Yoda did not speak as they walked and the minutes passed on.
"Are thing well at the Temple?", asked Qui-Gon breaking the silence. He was sure Yoda expected him to speak.
"Perhaps see that for yourself you would if not so distracted", replied Yoda not looking at Qui-Gon.
"Distracted?", asked Qui-Gon.
"Yes, dwelling a failure, consider yourself a failure you are, wonder what you could have done you do", said Yoda.
"I am merely recovering from a mission that went all too wrong", said Qui-Gon in a defensive way.
"At the Temple for weeks you have been, yet seen around you are not. All to be heard of you are the whispers of rumor. Miss you your fellow Jedi do", said Yoda.
"I failed my apprentice and now I am expected to forget it and continue on as if I had not let him fall", said Qui-Gon bitterly.
"A chance to fall we all have. A reason to fall we all have. If decided it is to fall to the darkside are the others to blame?", asked Yoda.
"It depends on the circumstance", replied Qui-Gon.
"Wrong! Learned nothing have you? If Yoda is wrong should a Jedi decide to fall because of it? If work out things do not should it be allowed to give in? Once you start down the dark path forever will it dominate your destiny. Only does it do so if you let it. A choice this is", said Yoda.
"Xanatos turned beause of me. I pushed him over the edge", said Qui-Gon becoming angry.
"Always was there darkness in him. Always was his future clouded. A gift were you to his life. See that he could not. Turn because he failed you, failed the Jedi, failed himself. Never your fault will it be", said Yoda.
"How do I know?", asked Qui-Gon.
"Give time, take another, continue on as a Jedi in the light as you always have", said Yoda.
Qui-Gon thought about what Yoda had to say and deep down he knew the Master was correct. He still had his doubts but the Master was correct anout how Qui-Gon could be handling what had happened a lot better. Nothing was said the rest of the walk and Qui-Gon was not sure how much time had passed. Obe thing was fo rcertain, he would find his serenity again.
