At Tucson *soon to be* FanForce meeting #2 we discussed more on the issue of the website (for when we're official). AoErat and I will be working together to try to create a website. If there was someone at the last meeting that wanted to help, please PM me. Hopefully we can get some work done on this by meeting #3. happy

Also, I will be purchasing a domain for us to use. I would appreciate it if everyone could bring $1 each to the next meeting for the domain. This is not mandatory and anyone that doesn't want to or can't will not be treated any less than someone that did. happy

Another thing about the website. We're going to have to find a cheap hosting service to put it on. Right now it's not an issue since it's still in the planning stage. However if any of you can contribute anything for this please PM me. happy This also is not mandatory but would be appreciated. I will look more into this and hopefully have some info for the next meeting. happy

How much webspace are you looking for and do you want any capabilites built in (ie. CGI, Perl, etc.)?

To tell you the truth SmoovBillyDee, I don't know right now. ?:| As far as space goes, probably 100MB at the most. I don't think we'll need much, it kind of depends on what we're planning on putting on the site. I figured it'd be a basic site with info and pics (once we do something worth taking pics of wink ). As far as capabilites, possibly CGI. I don't think we'll need anything beyond that if we even use that.

The server that my website is on is similar to that. The domain is owned by my best friend. I don't remember what service he used, but it was fairly reasonable. I'll have to ask him what service it was.

OK, I checked with my friend and the service he used was called "featureprice." May want to give it a look. grin

I think someone should take pictures of us as a group and put those on there, I also think we should post our meeting dates and info on there as well.

Those are great ideas b_b_n. I also think we should have pics of us in costumes, if we have them, and any events we may do in the future. happy

I agree with Lucky_Charms about the pics and events.
I also think that we should have reviews of SW books, games, etc. That would be cool.

I keep forgetting to ask this, blush but what domain should I register? tucsonfanforce.com?

That's what I figured we'd get and we talked about it a little bit at meeting #2 but just wanted to confirm it before I registered it. grin

Tucsonfanforce.com wopuld be ok. Or what ever you club name is also. We should get some ideas from other FF site or Club sites.

Personally I think tucsonfanforce.com is the best choice because if people know of the fan force and want to find out if Tucson has one then they might just type in tucsonfanforce.com blindly.

Although if we decide on tucsonfanforce.com we can always get a second domain for whatever name is chosen. grin At $10 per domain a year, two domains isn't really expensive especially if everyone chips in, that's like $2 a year per person (atleast until we get more people). grin
