In China, those with the top 10 most common surnames make up 40 percent of the population. See if your name made the list.
There are approximately 600 different Chinese surnames, compared to well over a million unique ones in the United States. Here are the top 10 Chinese surnames, in alphabetical order: Chen, Huang, Li, Lin, Wang, Wu, Yang, Zhang, Zhao, and Zhou. Here's the same list for the United States: Brown, Davis, Johnson, Jones, Miller, Moore, Smith, Taylor, Williams, and Wilson. Of these 10 names, only Smith is used by more than one percent of the U.S. population.
But what about Vader or Skywalker? They should be common names. The are in this house.
