Well I just got back from ROTS and it was amazing. Kind of odd to see a Adult Star Wars movie but a welcome change. Very emotional especially the last parts of the movie. Lightsaber Duels were the best I have seen in a Star Wars movie. Mace didnt go out like a punk he was just tricked by Palpy so Sam Jackson got the death he wanted. The only questions that I have left from the movie are as follows. If Leia is the youngest then why does she remember Padme and not Luke? My guess is maybe thats her forcepower. Second one is. If Qui Gon taught Yoda and Obi Wan how to Vanish at death then how does Anakin know how to do it? Is it because hes the chosen one? All in all though it was worth the 22 year wait Thank You George. I am going to get tickets for Fridays showing tomarrow. Cant wait to see it again

Best Star Wars movie ever, in my humble opinion. I thought the marriage of the most compelling and powerful storyline to date in the saga with the power of digital technology and graphic effects pushes ROTS in front of ESB and ANH. I know I'll get flamed for this because there is nothing like the originals, but that's truly what I believe.
The dialouge wasn't half as bad as everyone claimed it to be and the action was the best to date. I'm with Spielberg, I admit it, I cried. I didn't sob and make a scene, but the tears came. The inevitability of it all, the impending doom actually served to heighten the experience for me. I wanted to be able to stop it, but as in all great tragedies, nothing can be done to change what will happen.
The duels were all they were hyped up to be and all the loose ends I wanted tied up were taken care of. Sure a force-ghost Qui-Gon would have been nice, so would seeing Yoda set up camp on Dagobah, but those things are minor pieces missing from an otherwise stellar film.
The "I hate you" line coupled with Ewan's response of "I loved you" in my mind has taken it's place with "I love you... I know" and the "I am your father" scene as the greatest dialouge exchanges in Star Wars history. And as I carefully climb off of George Lucas' nuts, I say goodnight and may the foce be with us all.

I really liked it. I think GL did a great job on the emotional aspect of everything. He could have made it super dark, super bloody... but he didn't. He put just enough humor in it to try to brighten it just a bit. He implied the violence that happened - so you knew what was happening (hello - the Younglings?)
I'll have more thoughts after the weekend (and watched it several more times) and digested it all.

I loved the movie...It was sad when the Jedi died...(Adi, Aayla, Ki, Plo, and the younglings) I almost cried...Kit died to fast IMO...When Ani turns to Vader(on the table) that part was awesome...the Final Duel (Ani vs Obi) was one of the best I have ever seen.

you almost cried? Come on and admit lol, I think noone maintained dry eyes during that movie. I'm not the crying type, but my shirt had some definite dampness to it, wipin away all the tears.
But yeah, I couldn't beleive how deep and powerful it was. For a movie where evreyone essentially knows what happens, GL managed to put together something amazing. I'm still feeling it, and there were scenes in there that I know whenever I think of I will tear up. I've never gotten this powerful of an experience from a movie before. And yes it does change the way I see all the other movies ... for the better.
Lotsa fun surprises ... Artoo for instance, and the whole opening battle. There was cinematography and shots in that movie that I'd never imagined. One that sticks out was Anakin's dreams, I don't think GL used anything like that in the others. I went in there knowing it would hurt, but not that much.

Sad.. Very sad. I felt like the last hour was nothing more than an hour long kick in the teeth.
Every other Star Wars movie I've left feeling buzzed, alive and happy as a clam. Even ESB left me giddy.
But this one.. I left feeling like crap. It was just so sad and depressing. I think Ewan sold it for me. I really keyed off of his emotions in this movie and I just couldn't get into the sadness anymore.
The movie was really well done and I Think it was fantastically made but I would rather have Star Wars movies that end with Gungun parades, medal ceremonies, or dancing with Teddy bears.

Now we know WHY Allan Ladd Jr. at 20th Century said "Make the Middle".......so dark, so painful, so intense - will the kids understand it all - no the casual viewer will just see a story - so jaded are we somtimes that the horror of what was implied won't be noticed by many........The saddest moment for me was Padme's death - I thin k she knew the only way to insure the saftey of her children was for her to die - thereby severing the connection....and then the look in Anakin's eyes as the mask of Vader is permanently attached - they might have been stained the color of Sith - they are the frightened eyes of a child........and when all is said and done I still have a few questions.......Hopefully Gerorge may answer a few in the TV show........
There is still good in him......still...

I did ALMOST cry...most of the time...I actually did cry when Ki-Adi-Mudi died...
On the bridge:
*Seeing battle, Ki turns around*
"Come on!"
*Ki turns back and starts to run into battle*
*The clones start to go, but then stop*
"Come on!"
*The clones open fire, Ki blocks a few shots back, but then dies...*
Ki is not my favorite person, but is pretty high up there.
It was so sad!
BTW: My ranks for the star wars movies now that they are all out:
1.Empire Strikes Back (A+)
2.Revenge of the Sith (A)
3.Return of the Jedi (B+)
4.A new Hope (B)
5.Attack of the Clones (B-)
6.Phantom Menace (C+)

After seeing ROTS, i walked out of the theatre in sure amazment. I have loved every movie (even EP 1 and 2, though they are on the bottom of the list), but this one definitely makes the top of my list. Crying didnt happen on my end, but my eyes did well up a few times. During the last seen of Obi and Ani, i could feel how much it hurt those two to fight each other. It was like brother versus brother. Both the actors did amazing jobs!
I agree with the original posting question. Why does Leia remember her mother and not Luke? I thougth about it and then it came to me. Since Padme dies in childbirth, there is basically no way Leai could remember her Padme, force powers or no force powers. So the mother she is talking about is her adoptive mother ( the wife of senator Organa). That mother would be sad because a) they cant have their own kids (implied), and b) that leia's real mom dies in a tragic way, and she is sad because leai will grow up in living a lie for 20 some odd years.
In response to the second question, this is what i think. I have two theories going. One: From the time where EP 3 ends, to the end of EP 6 Emperor Sidious and Vader have learned the secrets of how to continue life after death. They were not able to put a stopper in death coming, but they figured out how to sustain afterewards, just like Yoda, Ben, etc. However, this theory gets nipped in the butt b/c why then didnt the emperor come back?
So then, Theory two: The way to sustain life after death which Qui Gon taught Yoda, and Yoda taught Ben is something that only the good jedi can achieve, b/c they must be one with the force and use it for the good of others. So Vader learns this from Ben. In EP 4 when vader says, the apprentice has now become the master, and Ben replies that he will become more powerful that vader could ever imagine (in other words, im gonna teach your son, that you forgot about how to overcome and beat the sith eventually). Vader understands and learns indirectly what he must do. So in EP6 when he sees his son in perial, he gives up his evil ways, embraces the good jedi powers again and thus is able to attain life after death. Also, during the time when he renounced his evil ways Obi-Wan was talking with him and helped quide him to the path of light to achieve life after death.
Now, these are just my ideas, no idea if im right but it i was also questioning those same things.
Either way the movie was awesome and i look forward to seeing it again and again and again and again and again...ok you get the point. Let keep these questions going!

If you read the novel Qui-Gon explains to Yoda that the secret to keep living after death comes from self sacrifice, he did that to save Obiwan from Darth-Maul (or at least tried) , Obiwan did it to Save Luke, Han and Leia, and of course Yoda gave all of his knowledge to Luke. Vader gives his life for his son, quite self explanatory.

That seems kinda thin...at least about Yoda self-sacrificing by giving his knowledge away. All the Jedi that have ever taught another have done that, so then they'd all disappear/be immortalized.
Anyway, I really liked the movie. The midnight viewing was really powerful...I didn't cry (got close, but those scenes were all short and intercut with scenes that were cheer-inducing, so...), but went halfway hoarse from screaming and cheering. The first part of the movie I was overwhelmed by all the hotness (Ewan I was expecting, but when the hell did Hayden get so hot?), and the second part I was just dismayed/horror-struck. I was so engrossed it took maybe 45 minutes to realize I had to pee, and in the bathroom (after the movie, of course) there were 4 chicks from the liningup group crying or recovering from doing so, which was the closest I got to crying. Long live the Vista theater! They showed us only Star Wars trailers before the movie, gave us electricity when we started camping there too on Sunday, and were just generally awesome.
A couple random things--before the movie started we tossed around SW beach balls, and a friend of my friend's did my hair in the Bespin Leia 'do (minus the bun) earlier in the day. A bunch of us were dressed-up, it was fun.
