Fantastic....there's a new Time Lord (Lady?) in town. Great to see this series take off (no pun intended) in a new direction. And wasn't Donna great this week?

It was okay. Much better than last weeks rubbish.
It needed to be braver IMO. For example, 'Jennie' needed to regenerate before The Doctor & Co. left ...not simply come back to life and go and have her own adventures (prime for another exciting spin-off no doubt!!!). A bit lazy and depressing. Kill her outright or have her regenerate - infact have her regenerate and become a respectible fellow Timelord to spur the overall pot of Doctor Who forward. I can't see why she didn't regenerate. The reason given in the show was rather non-existant. Instead we had a terribly cheesy ending.
Up to that point, the whole daughter thing had impressed me more than I expected it to. Some decent dialogue re: the Timelords... but once again it only hinted at stuff.
The war only lasting seven days was a twist I didn't see coming - so kudos for that.
I just have a horrid feeling the whole thing was an exercise in bringing yet another character into the mix for a spin-off sometime down the road. A shame, because if there's one thing the franchise doesn't need right now it's more 'commercial' characters.

I just feel that once again the show desperately wanted to do something meaningful and deep ("intelligent sci-fi" as Spike termed it last week) and in the end gave up on that and plumped for a light-hearted ending. It had the chance to make a stand, do something revelatory and concrete, and instead decided to leave it as open as possible. They made a big move with 'Jennie', and ended up filing the whole thing under 'come back to later - could use for children's TV'. Not at all satisfactory, and IMO another glimpse into the mentality behind the show... i.e commit to the cause as little as possible because (dammit) this is Saturday night commercial television and we have to say within those boundaries.
They come so close to the meat, but always pull away at the last moment.

Didn't like the overall feel of the episode at the beginning, two sides, been fighting for ages etc etc... but it perked up at the end... and then **** all over itself at the very end.
Finding out the twist that the war had only been going on for 7 days was a really nice twist and something new. I really like the Doctors Daughter and how he really didn't want her to be 'nice' per-se (which was explained later on with his children dying he left that world behind) but in the end gave in to liking her.
The very ending totally pooped the entire episode for me. First I thought 'regeneration' brilliant she'll still be alive, oh wait no she wont the Doctor said she wont. Oh dear, shame she was pretty good. Oh dear, she's alive, oh god cheesy ending.
It would have been so much better if they had covered her body, had sombre music playing and had the 'regeneration' stuff pop out of her mouth through the cloth and cut to the Doctor in the Tardis messing with stuff and then look up with a slightly confused look and then go back to his work not knowing what had just happened, but felt something.
At least then they could have left it open to if she was alive/dead and let people speculate rather than it being a crappy cheesy ending.

QFT.
Much better. Then at least it's all up in the air. The episode was gagging for a serious as heck ending.
Instead we have 'Teeny Timelord Adventures', 4.30pm on the CBBC Channel! Tell your friends to buy the sticker album!

I just couldn't get by the fish guys. They just looked too dumb to me. It looked like the costume makers hit a Woolworths post-Halloween sale for the masks and some cheap glassware.

I didn't understand how Martha and 'Fish Guy #1' were able to communicate. At one point, didn't Martha ask 'him' to mind his language?

But it was a good ending, I had been telling Moylesy Jr. that she would die in the end, had to happen, and even though he was expecting it he was a little sad when she popped her clogs. Cheered him up no end when she blasted off on her adventures.....even if she is a girl....but a cute, funny girl.

For me the ending should've been deadly serious - confirm her status as a proper Timelord for example, really give people something to chew on. Instead we have a cheesy get away, a character who's not quite a Timelord (because that would be too risky - the consequences too deep for a show that only wishes to repeat itself series after series after series) going off on some jolly adventures ready to be brought back when kid TV needs a slot to fill. Pants.

QFT seconded.
The thing that bothers me is that it wasn't a real regeneration. I dunno, maybe the machine process wasn't used to a species outside of Hath or Human, so it messed up a few cells. Jenny is a Time Lady, but she's something different at the same time. It just seems wrong.
But although I think character repetition in this show is getting a tad old now, if they revived her just for a spin-off, I WILL kill someone at the BBC.
But come on, these writers just seem to want to break the Doctor's hearts don't they. First they bring back another Time Lord who yes is his enemy but was once the Doctor's friend (or secret brother if you still subscribe to the theory) and then kill him, causing the Doctor a lot of anguish. Then they bring in Jenny, someone who despite what he says, could have made the Doctor heal a bit in that area, and then they kill her (and regenerate her without him knowing) causing again anguish and this time anger. Soon they're going to bring back Rose, and that opens so many cans of worms every single person and alien in that show will be able to go fishing. Rose meant so much to the Doctor after everything that happened in the Time War, she left forever without him telling her how much she meant to him, anguish once more. Yes I am excited like most viewers about her return, but the Doctor is really getting over the fact that she's gone, he's moving on and has accepted it. What the heck is it going to do to him when she just pops up again out of nowhere?

The whole episode was crap from start to finish and a complete waste of time. Now I know how Everton normally feels about the show.
I would go into more detail on exactly why it was so crap, but crap like that isn't worthy of the time. Suffice to say every single frame was crap.
