Silly episode this week but I enjoyed it - a lot more than the fish guys from last week. A fortnight til the next episode though since Eurovision is next week.

It was fun, silly and gentle. Lots of inside jokes as well.

Eurovision needs to die in a fire.
The episode overall was ok-ish. Seems like I can use that sentence on a lot of episodes of Dr Who recently which isn't really a step in the right direction...

Dr Who dunnit?
Maybe the makers of the show should change it to a comedy, as their ability to do sci-fi stuff is mediocre. It was funny but I'm wondering if they are pandering too much to Tate (who I dont mind as she can be funny and she makes a change from the awful Martha Jones)? Maybe rename it 'Tate, Who and friends' as this isn't Dr Who in my opinion.

I thought this was perhaps the best episode of the season. It had a great storyline (apart from the "I shagged a wasp" bit" but other than that it was great. Just because it's not especially science fiction-y doesn't mean it can't be entertaining or well made.

agreed, fatburt - it was pretty appauling.
Is it bizzare to say I thought this episode would have benifitted tremendously if there wasn't an alien element to it? I thought it really made this episode daft ( I understand how that might make me sound stupid because the show is Sci-fi). There were elements I liked, but wished the episode was more focused on one mystery and less on the stupid giant wasp.

A fun-filled romp. Not "heavy" in the slightest but very enjoyable (yes, it's not true Who but meh)
I think I counted 15 Agatha Christie titles mentioned in the course of conversation. I probably missed some though.

You see, I think there was an opportunity missed to make this episode exactly how you just described it :P

Funny how much opinions are differing this series. Maybe because I'd already decided I wasn't going to like it (I was hoping it would prove me wrong though), I thought this was easily the worst of the series so far.
The only bit I liked was the Doctor's poisoning.

I liked this week's episode. 45 minutes of harmless fun with a giant wasp

And Agatha Christie was pretty good.
Loved the detox scene, stupidly funny.

It would have been better if the giant wasp was not a giant wasp, but more wasp-like alien. Perhaps David Attenborough and crew had some cgi clips left over from one of their series?

Agreed, should've been wasp-like instead of a wasp. I suppose this means there's a planet inhabited by giant wasps.
It wasn't a great episode, but it was harmless enough. It seemed like a Poirot mystery with the Doctor stuck in. Except it wasn't long enough to be a good mystery drama.
The cast were fine, and Catherine Tate was good.
The whole gay couple thing and the kiss did look like they were shoved in by RTD for no major reason. They could've had the Doctor zapped with something or have someone punch him or any endless combination of things to shock him.
I preferred last week's one.

Why would a planet have to be inhabited by giant wasps? We have wasps here, but Earth isn't "inhabited" by them.
