Unconvincing? Done badly? The "Fob Watch" idea was one of the cleverest uses of technology I have seen in Dr. Who. Having been introduced to the concept in Family of Blood as soon as Professor Yana reached for his we knew there would be trouble ahead.

I meant the actual resurrection of The Master as opposed to how he was kept hidden from the Doctor. If he was killed off, then leavehim dead. It was lack of originality to think of a decent finale villain or use another famous old villain.
They new the Master would bring ratings so he was put in it.

And yet if Omega was brought back in the same way you'd be perfectly happy with it I think.

SithLordDarthRichie posted: Hopefully Moffatt can keep the Daleks away for a bit and come up with a different villain to end the series, maybe a new one.
As good as Moffat episodes are, I'm not particularly keen to see any of his new enemies again. There's the clockwork robots, or the satues and the shadows which are more concept than character. And none of them even speak (shadow possession aside).
Oh, gas mask zombies too. And they only repeat the same phrase over and over again. And it's just not as cool as 'Exterminate!'

Omega isn't dead, and he didn't use up all his regeneration lives.
I'm not saying Moffatt should bring back his old villains, but he has shown he's capable of creating good new ones, I'm usre he could make a decent one for the finale.
Or, he could be risky and try this supposedly awesome creation Davies came up with as an initial backup plan incase the Daleks weren't able to be used in the revival.

I know. but if he hasn't yet managed to produce one worthy of coming back then it's possible it's the one part of writing Who he's not so good at.

None that are good as the classics, IMO.

Mustafar_66 posted: I wouldn't have thought so. Dr Who's become a ratings winner, regardless of whether it's old or new villains.
The big season climaxes are different to the episodes mid-series. It's key for the publicity, and requires a far more recognisable hook.

Looks like Rose is also in the finale rather than just this week's episode. Might have been obvious but I don't recall seeing it official anywhere before.

Seems like Martha might feature also, considering she's on the cover of Radio Times along with Rose & Donna.
I just hope K-9 makes a return.

It's always been known that "this" episode (11) will not feature the doctor but rather his last 3 companions, including Martha.
I'm not sure it was known that Rose would also be in the finale afterwards

I must say I always assumed she would be. She's become too big a character to not have her feature at the end. They wouldn't have spent most of the series hinting at her return to simply have her for one episode before the end.
They wouldn't do that with Jack Harkness so i doubt they'd do it with Rose.
It seems like she's aware of what is happening, so she's involved in some way, which must lead to the events of the finale.

I don't think that Martha is in "Turn Left" (ep. 11). In the alternate timeline she never meets the Doctor.
It was known (within Doctor Who spoilerdom) that Rose was in the last three episodes.

I've managed to avoid copies of the Radio Times because we all know how great they are at not giving things away.
