Am I the only one who didn't get into this episode? It seemed really... stale to me.

I expect when Rose kept going through the rift in Turn Left, she only co-incided with Donna's actions.

Whilst there was lots to disapprove of in that episode, I think there was a lot to praise too. Even though I object to their general 'over-scaled' appoach to the show (as ya'll know), I am impressed that they are following through on what they've done.
We can only truly judge tonights episode (and last week's) when we've all seen episode 13.

The only element that seemed out of place was Davros. I haven't seen any need at all for his presence (although Mad Caan was superb!)
Interesting that when the Doc got hit by the death ray, only part of him turned skeleton-green. I take it that's why he survived long enough to get back to the TARDIS.

Davros did seem rather plonked in, but if the Daleks are going to be resurrected en mass, presumably he is necessary to 'spawn them'?
I thought the episode moved at a million miles an hour (and necessarily so), and did just enough to hang it all together. I don't think there's a need to explain ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING next week, either.
I'm genuinely intrigued about Donna, and I'll admit that the Doctor and Rose's 'almost reunion' moved me.
I look to next week with optimism, and hope (oddly enough) that they don't bottle out. I hope finish what you started, RTD, even if I don't wholly approve.

I really enjoyed it! Glad to see no trailer for next week straight after, maybe RTD has been listening to people getting annoyed about two parters getting spoiled with that....Although, to be fair I would be the BBC doing it, as Charlie Brooker has pointed out before.
Anyway, I am just hoping it doesn't do the same as the last series, which had been pretty poor and then had a good solid run of episodes, including some of the best I have seen, up until the terrible last episode! If it does that this year....Well I might need to claim on the house insurance for a new TV.

Thought it was very good. Managed to have all the characters but still give each of them enough to do instead of just being there for the sake of fanboy love.
Went a bit mad when torchwood was on screen, god I love that show. Eve Myles ftw, especially her war cry as she lets loose on the daleks.
Yeah the 'near reunion' got me bit choked up, then BAM lol Did not see that coming actually, thought Rose was going to buy it.
Hmmm, maybe this '1 second out from the rest of the universe' thing will effect his regeneration.

I thought the big 'TO... BE... CONTINUED...' was very dramatic, actually. They even kept quiet over the closing credits for a mite longer than usual.
Funniest line was "The Daleks to not accept apologies" - directed at Sarah Jane.

Regarding Harriet, I note they elected to NOT show her extermination.
She'll be back in a later series, IMO.

I like the Supreme Dalek and Dalek Caan. Infact the Daleks were probably the best part of the episode. This felt like a proper time to bring back the Daleks, and if we hadn't been inundated with them since PotW their reappearance would be even more powerful. Less is more, BBC.
I didn't like the CGI swarms of Daleks as it always looks very silly. They should have some sort of solo-flying transport instead of hovering about.
I did like the hints about Donna. Fascinated by that. I hope it's not a let down.
I didn't like Project Indigo, although I recognise it's a necessary plot device to bring the supporting cast together.
Some of the dialogue was delivered TOO quickly.
Billie Piper was much better tonight than she was last week.
The network that Harriet Jones was using needed a bit of groundwork in previous episodes. I didn't like that it was just plonked in. That made it seem like a shameless plot device. A bit of groundwork would've avoided giving that impression. And if there was groundwork, I don't remember it.
The Shadow Proclamation scenes felt unecessary, and could've been cut out to give more time to other scenes. The deduction that took place in the Proclamation could've occured aboard the TARDIS, if RTD had really wanted it to.
I liked the idea of a phonecall bringing the TARDIS to Earth. It may seem like trendy cool-mongering in this age of mobile phones, but communications networks will have to exist. So I was okay with that.
I think, whilst Torchwood can segway into Doctor Who quite well, and tone itself down to fit, I don't think the children-centric Sarah-Jane Adventures can 'upscale' very well at all. It's a kids show and I'm afraid Sarah Jane and that kid, and Mr. Smith, looked completely out of place.
As I've said I don't like the overblown scale, but until I know the resolution I can't rail against it just yet. There are certainly sci-fi conventions that will allow the huge events of this two-parter to be shut away from the public consciousness.

If Harriet isn't dead then they went a bit too far having us believe she is. You even heard the death ray (that's how I've remembered it, anyway). And while a bad Dalek shot would be nothing new, 3 or 4 (don't remember) of them at that range...
Warning shot?

QFT.
I thought they did enough to justify Davros' presence. They needed his genetic material to make more Daleks. Could say that's maybe too similar to the Emperor in season 1, but there's also the whole plan, whatever it is, that presumably also requires Davros' genius.
