He's young, but like Moffat was saying he has that slightly older look to him aswell, which I agree with somewhat.

Yes Cassanova was a big show for the BBC, but I never watched it and hadnt seen Tennant in anything before I read that he was going to be next up. In fact I didnt think he would be good untill I actually saw the christmas special.

Untill I actually see him in action as the doctor, Im not passing judgement. From first impressions, I like the look of him. Young, but not in a 'lets get down with the kids, innit!' way.

When they said youngest ever and unknown, my mind raced to RTD's choice of Russel Tovey and my heart sank. But was lifted again lol

I'm optimistic - In all honest it could be Johnny Vegas but to know that Moffet is writing is is my main source of my chin- uppiness. Bring on Matt Smith's Doctor

I'm getting more and more pessimistic. He reminds me of Richard Fleischman. He oozes "Emo Kid". I really wish they'd at least shown his audition

I'm more inclined to support his casting than oppose it. The key is to make sure he doesn't play like a kid - don't pander to those who would want the easy demographic appeal of a 'Doctor Who 90210'. Play him older than he actually is - wise old head - and it might work very well.

He looks like an Easter Island Head.

But, Davidson looked like a teenager intially, and he grew into the role.
A number of the previous actors were not that known. I don't think I've seen Tom Baker in any production before he did Dr Who and little since.

Matt Smith certainly does look older then he is, and various clips they showed of him reveal he can alter his look quite a bit.
He doesn't appear to be particularly expressive, but we are yet to see him in action so it's hard to judge.

I trust Moffat's ability more the Davies', so if Moffat feels he's good enough I'm inclined to feel he is suitable.

Part of me is stilling clinging to the hope that this is an elaborate ruse in order to throw people off the scent.

David Tennant was in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire prior to his first airing of Doctor Who, so he had a bit of time and opportunity to establish himself.

I think Matt Smith looks capable of doing a good job, and I'm sure they will be working on "his look" before they start filming in the Summer.
He looks a bit like a young Willie Harcourt-Cooze from Willie's Wonky Chocolate Factory, and if he's anything like him then that can only be a good thing, lol.

We've got a loooong time before we see Matt Smith in action anyways, plenty of time to get used to it. And 26 isn't too young at all.

He's younger than both my brothers.

I've got nothing against this guy, I'm willing to give him a chance, but I'd be happier with an older actor if only because it would stop the Doctor being such a heart-throb figure.
