Hmm, ballpark figures if it is in the US.
Flight £400 - £500 for a return ticket.
Hotel rooms - $149 per night (it would be a five night trip).
Spending money - AS MUCH AS YOU CAN POSSIBLY GET TOGETHER!
With regards to the hotel, the idea is to get as many of us together who are going, book a suite and share the cost between us, thus dramatically reducing the hotel costs to something like $20 - $30 a night instead.
Not sure what this BIG event in the UK might be, but if it ISN'T CIV, then I'm still gonna want to go to CIV, because it is a totally different experience to anything we've had in the UK so far.

Yes I was rather quiet on Saturday, it comes from having two maoning kids and a wife that's been sat in a car with me for over an hour ! My eldest thinks you're funny though, she wanted to stay with you and Phill when the Daleks were around, must be a beard thing !
At least you said hello to me, that's more than Richie managed . . . . . . . . grumble grumble.

To try and get this thread back on track, after I did such agreat job of derailing it -
What sort of numbers are you looking at people-wise Phill ?
C 4 is the one of the things I've sworn not to miss, even if I'm dead ! I've been putting something aside for this for so many years now, it's untrue but things have developed so I might not have to use that money to get there myself, only downside to that is - The wife and kids might want to come

Hmm, let's see, as many as possible LOL!
If only a few are going as a group, then a normal twin room would fit four comfortably, though obviously two would be on the floor Those rooms tend to be $149 a night, so less than $40 a night ($200 for the week) per person which is pretty good.
If there were more, I've heard suites work well, for about ten people, though obviously they would be more expensive (though cheaper per person in the end I think). It depends on how many are coming to work out the best way to split the rooms.

But his info about Indy may be wrong now.
But if it were Indy - I wouldn't say that city is really family friendly if the rest of the family isn't into SW, since there wasn't much to do around the convention center. So fingers crossed it isn't Indy this year.
I am going to this unless I have a change in circumstances. I'll book early so if I were to change job anyways, it has to be honoured hopefully. Last time I flew via New York, I won't be doing it this time, so I may be flying with some of you - if you go via Manchester.

I'm not interested in going...I know for a FULL BLOWN FACT that I'm attending.
Even if it means that I have to rob, cheat, steal, rape, pillage, and plunder like a viking, scrounging every single penny I can lay my grubby little mits on between now and then. Gives me more cash to spend (re: drink) while I'm there! 
Note to under 21's at the event - That is, anyone born after May 20th, 1986 - You will not be allowed to drink in the bars, whether it be Indy or LA. Americans are very anal retentive about this matter, and you will end up in the hurt-locker if you get caught.

I think I'll have to step down on this one. Unless my job changes (which will be due to the supposed pay rise next month (probably 1%!! Woo yeah! Remember I'm the loophole that earns less than MW!  ) I doubt I can make it. It'd mean some serious saving..
Although, it is over a year away. I mean, I have the flight covered now.. but I still won't be 18 though. Hmmm.. Can you get into bars at all? I don't wanna be sat outside while you guys party.
I will do some serious thinking and get back to you guys in perhaps a month. I'll be able to asses things a little better then.
