My Uncle gave me some info this weekend, and from what he said the plans I've been hearing about for the past 6-8 months are still on, so for those who can't make it to LA, all is not lost. But I will stress again that I'm really not sure if things will actually happen so I don't want to give anyone any false hope.
Something needs to be said soon though or else it'll be a total disaster 
Personally I'm being pessimistic and don't think it'll happen, but I hope to be proven wrong and I'm still clinging on to some hope.

I had to ring up to book the Fig - they don't appear to do bookings online. Just dial 001 then the number on the site if calling from the UK. There's A LOT of star wars fans staying there if you look at the the Fan Force General/Celebration 4 board. It seems that whilst there are quite a lot of negative reviews for Uno, the manager, we'll practically taking over the place so I think it unlikely for similar issues to crop up.
I received my booking email confirmation last week. It depends on who takes your call. I spoke to a woman (Elyse?) (called at about 8pm uk time) who seems quite professional. It appears booking through Uno causes the problems! Sounds like he is quite a character. The Fig is 2nd nearest to the LACC about a block further than the holiday inn which isn't currently taking bookings. When I called up it was $134 for a room (plus 14% tax) a night. If there are any other women travlling on their own I don't mind sharing the cost of the room.

Yes, this Uno does seem quite the character. There seems to be a fair amount of us Star Wars fans booked in the Figueroa now, so I imagine he'll be seeing some strange sights during our stay there lol! (Does anyone else picture him looking like Wuher the Cantina bar keeper?)
I finally managed to get email confirmation from Elyse on Sunday evening. Uno just ignored my email and previous two phonecalls. When Elyse came on duty I received the email within the hour. So it does seem as if he is the problem.

Would it be a good idea to start a sort of list of people who can definatly go and maybe's...and perhaps a list for people willing to share a hotel room? this way we can start to get abit organised and can all plan about what is happening....

If you want somewhere cheap and cheerful near the LA convention centre I have made a reservation at the ritz milner hotel its cost me just over $1000 for;
A guest room which has a king size along with a pull out bed from the monday 21st to the 30th may 2007
Its a 8 mins walk to the convention centre up one street more or less
Maceys Plaza (shopping centre) is across the road which has a cash machine and even a post office.
You do not have to pay until check out.
This is my back up room just until I see what gencon/lucasfilm have to offer.
